The Permit Coordinator - Nordics supports the permitting of data center development and construction projects across the Nordic region. This role is suited for a professional with 2–5 years of relevant experience who has developed a foundation in permitting, planning, construction, real estate, infrastructure, or project coordination and is looking to further build their expertise within a fast-paced, international environment.
The Permit Coordinator will coordinate permitting activities across multiple projects, working closely with the Senior Permit Manager, internal stakeholders, external consultants, and local permitting authorities. The role will help ensure permit requirements, submissions, dependencies, and timelines are clearly understood, accurately tracked, and aligned with overall project schedules.
The successful candidate will be proactive, organized, and comfortable taking ownership of day-to-day permitting coordination while escalating more complex issues and risks when appropriate.
This position reports to the Permit Manager, EMEA.
Primary Responsibilities
* Coordinate the preparation, review, and submission of permit applications for data center projects across the Nordic region.
* Support the Permit Manager in developing and maintaining project-specific permitting strategies, schedules, and requirements.
* Work cross-functionally with internal teams including BCEI, Real Estate, Engineering, Market Development, Public Affairs, PMO, and other relevant stakeholders to gather information and documentation required for permit applications.
* Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for external permitting consultants, coordinating deliverables and following up on outstanding actions and application progress.
* Maintain permit trackers and schedules, ensuring key milestones, dependencies, submission dates, authority review periods, and approval dates are accurately recorded.
* Proactively identify potential permitting delays, gaps, or risks and escalate them to the Permit Manager and relevant project stakeholders.
* Monitor the status of permit applications and follow up with consultants and stakeholders to help keep projects progressing according to agreed timelines.
* Prepare regular permitting status reports and updates for project teams and other internal stakeholders.
* Coordinate and participate in permitting meetings, document decisions and action items, and follow up with responsible parties to ensure actions are completed.
* Maintain accurate and organized permitting documentation, records, correspondence, and project data.
* Support research into local permitting requirements, approval processes, and relevant regulatory considerations for new and existing markets.
* Contribute to improving permitting processes, trackers, reporting tools, and ways of working across the Nordic portfolio.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* Fluent in English and Swedish, Norwegian or Finnish
* Good understanding of permitting, planning, construction, real estate development, infrastructure development, or a related area.
* Strong project coordination and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities and deadlines simultaneously.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate project documentation and tracking.
* Good written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to follow up with internal and external stakeholders.
* Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and different countries and cultures.
* Ability to identify potential issues, dependencies, and delays and escalate them appropriately.
* Proactive and accountable approach, with the ability to take ownership of assigned activities and drive actions to completion.
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced project environment where priorities and timelines may change.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
* Ability to understand project schedules, trackers, and reporting information.
Experience / Education
* 2–5 years of relevant professional experience in permitting, planning, construction, real estate development, engineering, infrastructure, project development, project coordination, or a related field.
* Previous experience supporting or coordinating permit applications, planning approvals, regulatory approvals, or development processes
* Experience working with external consultants, authorities, contractors, or multidisciplinary project teams
* Experience within data centers, energy, utilities, industrial facilities, telecommunications, or other large-scale infrastructure environments is an advantage but not required.
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Urban or Regional Planning, Real Estate, Architecture, Law, Environmental Studies, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
