BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Classification: Outside Sales / Business Development
Reports To: Designated Sales Leader
Non-Recoverable Commission Draw Range: $80,000–$165,000
Commission Opportunity: Uncapped commissions pursuant to the Company's applicable Sales Commission Plan (competitive profit sharing)

Position Summary

The Business Development Manager is an outside sales professional responsible for originating commercial equipment finance and leasing transactions and developing long-term relationships with customers, manufacturers, dealers, vendors, and other referral sources.

The position manages the full sales cycle from prospecting and relationship development through financing structure, credit submission, closing, and ongoing account management. Business Development Managers operate with significant autonomy and are expected to develop and manage their territory, industry specialization, referral network, and book of business.

Akrapoint focuses on equipment-intensive industries, including specialized vehicles and non-titled collateral. Successful representatives are expected to combine strong equipment and industry knowledge with direct-to-end-user business development.


Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Originate commercial equipment finance and leasing transactions through end-users, manufacturers, dealers, vendors, referrals, and other business-development channels.
  • Develop and grow an assigned territory, industry specialization, equipment segment, and/or book of business while meeting applicable production and profitability expectations.
  • Continually prospect, qualify, and develop new customer and referral relationships while expanding existing accounts and generating repeat business.
  • Build and maintain long-term manufacturer, dealer, vendor, and direct customer relationships, including recurring finance programs and referral opportunities.
  • Understand customer financing needs and recommend appropriate lease or financing structures within Company products, pricing, and credit parameters.
  • Develop strong working knowledge of applicable industries, equipment, markets, Company policies, products, and programs.
  • Manage opportunities from initial prospecting through credit approval, documentation, funding, and ongoing relationship management.
  • Work closely with Credit and Commercial Operations to provide accurate information, respond to requests, resolve issues, and efficiently move transactions toward funding.
  • Maintain an active sales pipeline and complete, accurate CRM records regarding customers, vendors, opportunities, activity, and applicable remarketing information.
  • Travel to meet customers and referral partners and attend trade shows, industry events, and association meetings as appropriate, while operating within approved travel and entertainment budgets.
  • Provide prompt, courteous, and accurate service; maintain a professional appearance and attitude; and represent the Company professionally in all business interactions.
  • Leverage customer relationships to assist with collections, repossessions, collateral recovery, remarketing, or other portfolio matters when appropriate.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Approximately 2 - 5+ years of successful equipment finance, equipment leasing, commercial finance, capital-equipment sales, or relevant B2B sales experience.
  • Established industry relationships and book of business preferred.
  • Experience with specialized vehicles, industrial equipment, non-titled collateral, or other equipment-intensive industries preferred.
  • Working knowledge of commercial equipment finance, leasing, transaction structure, pricing, amortization, collateral, and basic commercial credit concepts.
  • Strong prospecting, consultative selling, negotiation, relationship-management, and closing skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain responsiveness with business owners, executives, manufacturers, dealers, and other commercial decision-makers.
  • Highly motivated and self-directed, with the ability to independently manage a substantial pipeline, travel schedule, and multiple transactions simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational skills, responsiveness, commercial judgment, and commitment to accurate CRM and transaction information.
