HiPPoS TA

About the role

  • ​Assist professor with teaching History, Philosophy, Digital Humanities, Geography or General Studies courses

What you'll do

  • Grading quizzes and short papers
  • Leading exam review sessions
  • Managing Moodle course pages
  • Holding an office hour
  • Work with faculty and other TAs to help plan extracurricular events for the department
  • Some TAs may also assist professors with research or administrative tasks
  • One HiPPoS TA will assist archivist Rebekah Bain in the History Center: Archives of Bethel University and Converge

Qualifications

  • Must be a current Bethel student
  • Have at least sophomore standing as of Fall 2026
  • A major in a HiPPoS field, but minors will be considered. If job responsibilities are attached to a specific class the student will generally need to have taken that course before.
  • Students filling the archives TA role need to have an interest in curation and preservation of historical materials, care about details and doing careful work, neat printing, be able to do physical labor (lift and break down boxes, move boxes), and not be allergic to dust

 

Work Environment:

Grading may be completed remotely or in any location chosen by the student worker.

 

Physical Demands:

In addition to what is listed in qualifications, must be able to remain seated for extended periods (2+ hours).

 

Expected Hours of Work:

Varies - typically 3 hours per half month pay period


Pay rate: $14.25/hour


Referral by professor is preferred.
