About the role
The Senior Client Accountant provides comprehensive treasury, bookkeeping, and financial reporting services to ultra-high-net-worth families, trusts, foundations, and other investment management clients with complex financial needs. This role oversees key accounting processes, coordinates tax information with external advisors, and delivers accurate, customized financial reporting.
This is a newly added role to our Client Accounting team to support growth. As a subject matter expert within the Client Accounting team, the Senior Client Accountant will also help strengthen processes and build scalable solutions that support the continued growth of the firm’s Family Office services.
What you'll do
- Create and maintain general ledger accounts and financial reporting for ultra-high-net-worth families and related entities, including trusts, foundations, brokerage accounts, and operating companies.
- Account for a broad range of investments, including equities, fixed income, private equity partnerships, private real estate, and direct investments.
- Own core accounting processes, including reconciliations, financial statement review, and month-end close.
- Collect, organize, and track tax information for external CPAs and tax advisors, working directly with advisors to resolve outstanding items.
- Manage intercompany and interfamily notes payable and receivable, including transaction activity, interest calculations, balances, and reconciliations.
- Partner with internal teams to support the preparation and filing of Form 1099 tax statements.
- Prepare and maintain customized client financial reports on a recurring basis and upon request.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and resource to members of the Client Accounting team.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls, and increase the scalability of the client portfolio.
- Participate in special projects and perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- At least five years of experience in corporate, partnership, trust, or family office accounting.
- At least five years of experience working collaboratively in a team environment; prior supervisory experience is preferred.
- At least two years of client service experience.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks and working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to protect confidential financial and personal information and exercise sound judgment and discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active or inactive CPA license, or a master’s degree in accounting or business administration.
- At least two years of public accounting experience in tax or audit.
- Experience serving ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families.
