Start Your Technical Career with Camlin Energy

Are you interested in technology, engineering, and understanding how things work? Do you enjoy solving problems, working with your hands, and learning new skills?

Camlin Energy is looking for two Technical Apprentices to join our North American team in Atlanta, Georgia.

Our two-year Technical Apprenticeship Program is designed for people at the beginning of their careers who have the aptitude and ambition to develop into highly skilled technical professionals.

You do not need to already be an engineer or experienced technician. We are looking for people with strong fundamentals, particularly in mathematics and problem solving, who are curious about technology and eager to learn.

About Camlin Energy

Camlin Energy develops advanced technology that helps electric utilities understand the condition and performance of critical electrical assets.

Our technologies combine electrical and mechanical engineering, sensors, monitoring systems, data and software to help utilities operate their networks safely, reliably and efficiently.

As a Technical Apprentice, you will get exposure to both the technology we develop and the real-world environments where that technology is installed and supported.

The Apprenticeship

The program combines two key elements:

Technical Education

You will undertake structured mechatronics education through Camlin’s education partner in Georgia. Your studies will build fundamental knowledge across areas such as:

  • Electrical principles and circuits
  • Mechanical systems
  • Motors and controls
  • Instrumentation and measurement
  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
  • Fluid systems
  • Technical troubleshooting
  • Safety
  • Applied mathematics
  • Technical communication

Hands-On Development

Education is only part of the program. You will apply what you learn through structured rotations within Camlin Energy’s North American operations.

Your practical development is expected to include experience in areas such as:

  • Field Services – working alongside experienced engineers installing and commissioning Camlin monitoring equipment at customer sites.
  • Technical Support – learning how to diagnose technical problems, interpret system information and support customers and field engineers.
  • Product Configuration & Testing – gaining hands-on experience configuring, testing and preparing monitoring systems at our Atlanta facility.
  • Equipment Service & Repair – developing practical troubleshooting, repair, calibration and equipment maintenance skills.
  • Inventory & Operations – understanding how parts, equipment and technical resources are managed to support our customers.
  • Advanced Field Troubleshooting – progressing toward more complex field diagnosis and remediation as your technical capability develops.

You will work alongside experienced engineers, technicians, and technical specialists who will help you progressively build your skills throughout the program.

What We Are Looking For

This program is intended for people starting their technical careers. You may be:

  • A recent high school graduate interested in engineering or technology.
  • A student or recent student with some college or technical education.
  • Someone who has completed technical, vocational, STEM or engineering-related coursework and wants to develop through hands-on experience.

Previous professional technical experience is not required.

More important to us is your potential to learn and develop.

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Strong fundamental mathematics skills.
  • An interest in electrical, mechanical or engineering technology.
  • Curiosity about how equipment and systems work.
  • Logical thinking and a structured approach to solving problems.
  • A willingness to work with tools and equipment and learn through hands-on experience.
  • A customer-focused mindset.
  • A strong commitment to workplace and electrical safety.
  • Reliability, personal responsibility, and a willingness to learn.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to always support the team around them.
  • Fluent spoken and written English.
  • A willingness and ability to travel frequently within North America.

Travel and Field Experience

Camlin’s customers operate critical electrical infrastructure throughout North America, and field experience is an important part of becoming a Camlin technical professional.

Apprentices should therefore expect frequent travel during field rotations.

Travel will typically follow a weekly pattern, with employees traveling to a customer location for a specific installation, service or training assignment before returning home, rather than being based away from home for extended periods.

You must be comfortable working in industrial and utility environments and following all required safety procedures.

What You Will Gain

By the end of the two-year program, you will have built a combination of formal technical education and real-world experience that is difficult to gain through classroom education alone.

You will gain exposure to the electric power industry and to advanced technologies used to monitor some of the most important assets on the electrical grid.

Most importantly, you will have spent two years learning directly from experienced Camlin engineers and technical professionals while being a full-time member of our team.

Your Career After the Apprenticeship

Our goal is to develop apprentices who can build long-term technical careers within Camlin Energy.

Toward the end of the two-year program, each apprentice will complete a final assessment considering technical competence, practical capability, performance throughout the program and readiness for the next stage of their career.

Successful completion of the apprenticeship does not guarantee a specific permanent position. However, apprentices who successfully complete the program and final assessment may be considered for available permanent technical roles within Camlin Energy.

Depending on individual strengths, interests and business needs, future opportunities could include areas such as Field Services, Technical Support, Product Configuration, Service & Repair, Manufacturing or other technical functions.

Who Should Apply?

If you have a strong foundation in mathematics, enjoy figuring out how things work, are comfortable learning both in a classroom and with your hands, and want to build a career around engineering and technology. We want to hear from you.

Camlin Energy will provide the education, practical experience, mentoring and opportunity.

Our Values

  • We work together
  • We believe in people
  • We won’t accept the ‘way it has always been done’
  • We listen to learn
  • We’re trying to do the right thing
