SciShow Resident

SciShow Residents create and host videos that delve into scientific subjects that defy expectations. They are responsible for helping SciShow achieve our mission of creating trustworthy content that inspires curiosity and lowers barriers to knowledge building. The responsibilities of the Resident include researching, pitching and writing scripts; attending production to host; creating promotional material for those videos; and assisting with image research.

SciShow Residents will also meet with our editorial and production teams for weekly and monthly meetings in preparation for filming.

Job Title: SciShow Resident

Status: Full Time, Exempt, Temporary

Reports to: Editorial Director

Location: Remote, US-based

Term: Monday, May 3 through Friday August 27th

Pay: $1,500/week

Candidates must reside in (or be willing to relocate to) one of the following states: (AZ, CA, CO, DC, FL, GA, IL, IN, IA, KS, MA, MI, MO, MT, NM, NY, NC, OK, OR, PA, TN, UT, VA, WA) 

What you'll do:

• Attend and pitch at weekly pitch meetings
• Research and write 10 scripts 
• Revise scripts based on feedback from editors
• Assist with image research for those scripts
• Travel to Missoula to host and participate in a week of SciShow production
• Attend weekly meetings with the Editorial Director
• Attend monthly SciShow meetings
• Attend other meetings with production in the weeks prior to shooting
• Other duties as assigned

We want to hear from you if you have:

• Bachelor’s degree in science related field
• Professional writing experience preferred
• Experience hosting science content on the internet
• Proficient written and verbal communication required
• Proficiency with G-Suite including Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Forms preferred
