Who we are

Contour was founded in 2020 by students who saw that the quality of your education was basically a lottery. Teachers stretched thin by the system, learning materials that varied from school to school, and support that stopped the moment you left the classroom.

We began with 5 students in a room. Today 15,000+ students have trusted Contour as their academic partners, and we've grown to 500+ team members across 10 campuses in Australia. In 2025 we ranked #8 on the AFR Fast 100 of fastest-growing companies.

We've produced hundreds of 99+ ATARs, tutored the world-record UCAT scorer, and placed 850+ students into medical and dental schools across Australia.

Contour is made up of three brands:

• Contour Education → academic performance in high school
• Contour MedPrep → entry into medical and dental schools
• Contour TestPrep → entry into selective and scholarship schools

What you'll do

You'll teach a group of students content and application, and help them work through difficult questions:

• Teach – intuitively teach subject content to a full class of 8–20 students
• Coach – study skills and exam strategy
• Mentor – share your own experiences and form genuine connections
• Connect – build relationships that inspire students to keep going

For example, you might teach two classes on Monday and two on Tuesday (4:15–6:15pm and 6:45–8:45pm), plus two on Saturday morning (10:00am–12:00pm and 12:30–2:30pm).

What you'll bring

• Strong communication and a knack for making hard concepts click
• Knowledge of Chemistry  at first-year university level or above
• A 99+ ATAR and a Band 6 (or E4 for extension subjects) in your subject (highly desirable, not required)
• 6+ classes per week, committed across a full academic year (around 12+ hours weekly)
• Energy, empathy, and a desire to help students
• Alignment with Contour's mission (non-compete agreement required)

Why you'll love it

• The pay: classes run two hours. Tutors start at $90/class and reach $140+/class, plus super and bonuses. Most Tutors earn $130 to $220+/class including bonuses.
• You don't build the material: every class runs on a workbook our subject team writes, with homework, practice assessments and exams already built into our learning portal.
• Real (paid) training: qualification through Contour Tutor Academy, class sit-ins, regular check-ins with your team lead, and honest feedback on your tutoring.
• A schedule you choose: pick your days, campuses, and times. Evenings and weekends, built around your uni timetable.
• Somewhere to go: grow with Contour into senior tutoring roles, team leads, or full-time career opportunities.

How to apply

1. Submit your CV, ATAR/study scores, and a short paragraph on why you'd make a great tutor at Contour
2. Submit a short video (10–15 minutes) of you tutoring with a sample workbook we provide
3. Attend an in-person interview, which includes a Q&A and teaching a mock small-group class

One thing to know: all tutoring roles at Contour include a non-compete agreement. We heavily invest in your development as a tutor and ask for the same commitment to our mission in return. We'll walk you through the details before you sign any offer.
