About the Role

The Senior Field Service Engineer (Sr FSE) will play a key role providing support for the installation and servicing of products in the field. The Sr FSE is a self-driven individual who is experienced in electrical and mechanical assemblies and troubleshooting automated control systems. This role provides service and support for existing and future products for our customers in Japan.

This role will be based at our customer site in Japan to support our newest tool in the field. Over time, the role will service more of the tools around Japan.

Reporting Line

This position reports to the Manager, Field Service Engineering (APAC).

Your Role

• Responsible for on-site installation, servicing, and repair of products in the field
• Own customer relationships; single point of contact for all customer actions/communications.
• Instruct and train customers on the operation and maintenance of products
• Conduct on-site scheduled planned maintenance visits
• Work in a cleanroom and follow all customer protocols
• Work in a supportive, team-oriented environment
• Engage with internal technical subject matter experts when needed after initial troubleshooting and summarizing the issue
• Data analysis
• Control system analysis & troubleshooting
• Write and review technical documentation
• Field support of instrumentation
• Bring feedback from customer on tool features and functionality
• Travel, often on short notice, to customer sites to resolve problems
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications (Required)

• Minimum education of an engineering Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• Fluency in Japanese and English.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (excel, PowerPoint) or related software.
• Comfortable and productive working independently.
• Must be extremely self-driven and able to independently seek information and learning.
• Requires a troubleshooting mindset: the ability to analyze systems or processes to identify and resolve issues systematically.
• Strong interpersonal skills with excellent communication (written, verbal and presentation) skills; ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
• Ability to work effectively with technical peers and manage the team’s workload amidst shifting priorities.
• Experience troubleshooting automated control systems, including data acquisition, robotics, IO, industrial communication, and machine vision.
• Assembly skills (electrical/mechanical).
• Experience working in a cleanroom and following all customer protocols.
• Excellent communication (written, verbal and presentation) skills, and advanced problem-solving orientation and decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage demanding customer requests and prioritize activities independently.
• Excellent documentation skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
• Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
• Eligibility to legally work in Japan and to travel internationally for work

Qualifications (Bonus to Have)

• Semiconductor equipment experience.
• Experience with optics and imaging systems.
• Experience working in a cleanroom and following all customer protocols.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing ultra-high vacuum systems.

Position Details

The annual base salary range for this full-time position is ¥13,000,000 - ¥15,000,000 + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and EUV Tech's location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the respective role. Within the range, individual pay is determined by the following factors: job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
