Sr. Analyst, Business Analytics

Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, Free Market Health supports forward-thinking payers and specialty pharmacies of all sizes who need to operate in a complex and opaque market. We empower all stakeholders to optimize resources and maximize opportunities while focusing on the most important stakeholder of all: the patient.

The Role

Free Market Health is seeking an experienced healthcare analyst to deliver high-value data and analytics solutions for both internal and external business partners. We are looking for a curious problem solver who can quickly make sense of complex data issues and solve problems in a fast-paced and changing environment. You should be able to identify an issue proactively, plan a solution, develop said solution, and see the project through end to end.

The Senior Analyst, Business Analytics will work as a consultative analytics partner. This role will work closely with a wide variety of roles and teams within the organization and must be able to communicate complex data and processes succinctly. Through the combination of analytical problem-solving, strong SQL and Tableau skills, and sharp business acumen, the role will support our stakeholders to best fit the goals and needs of the business.   The role requires initiative, independence, ability to work in a dynamic environment, and the capacity to perform a wide variety of duties.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as a trusted analytical consultant with our partners across varying functions to build trust in data and deliver high-value analytics solutions.
  • Develop knowledge of the business model and customer needs/nuances that can be leveraged in analytical value delivery.
  • Apply analytical techniques to address customer problem statements, synthesize data from multiple sources, translate findings into actionable information, and deploy meaningful solutions.
  • Analyze pharmacy/medical claims data to identify trends, pinpoint issues/areas for improvement, and recommend solutions and alternatives.
  • Steward data and analytics as an enterprise-enabling capability and increase the analytical aptitude of our business partners.
  • Execute analyses and prepare presentations on program performance including operational, clinical, and economic subject areas.
  • Build data visualizations to share the value narrative across various stakeholder groups.
  • Monitor changes related to healthcare industry/data to identify required enhancements for analytic approaches.
  • Inform data engineering and software engineering teams of requirements and use cases to bolster the data architecture needed to best support analytics operations.
  • Actively contribute to data governance efforts to improve quality of our data foundation.

What We're Looking For

  • 4+ years of experience working as an analyst in the healthcare industry with a preference for experience within the specialty pharmacy space.
  • Bachelor’s degree in analytics or another field.
  • Adaptability: Ability to quickly adapt to changes in both technology and business environments. Ability to quickly re-prioritize work. Ability to solve needs and develop a solution when you may have less than ideal inputs/information.
  • Collaboration: Ability to thrive on a highly collaborative, creative, and lean team, owning and managing multiple priorities/projects in a fast-paced environment. Collaborative team player invested in everyone’s success, not just your own.
  • Highly self-motivated with keen attention to detail and critical thinking.
  • Laser-focus on results (getting things done on time with exceptional quality).
  • Curious problem solver who can proactively identify areas of opportunity for improvement
  • Ability to “think on your feet” and solve problems to solutions where the answer is not known and/or not straightforward
  • Strong and effective written and verbal interpersonal skills with the ability to tailor your message to your audience, including the ability to work in a self-directed environment.
  • Consultative expertise in working with customers, both internal and external in nature. Able to communicate and manage expectations.
  • Advanced analytic skills with the ability to analyze and interpret data through complex analysis.
  • Expertise in developing complex, legible, and efficient scripts and queries in SQL. Experience with various analytical toolsets and multiple SQL dialects preferred. Technology adaptable.
  • Advanced skills in Tableau dashboard/tool development strongly preferred. Proficiency with at least one visualization tool required.
