Solutions Engineer (LATAM)

About Onfleet

Onfleet's mission is to power the future of commerce by enabling businesses of all sizes to move goods more efficiently and delightfully. Our product includes intuitive smartphone apps for drivers, a powerful modern web application and dashboard for logistics teams, and automatic notifications and real-time tracking for recipients. Onfleet powers millions of deliveries every week for thousands of businesses around the world across a range of industries, from grocery and prepared meals to pharmacy, flowers, and furniture.

About the role

Onfleet is hiring a Solutions Engineer to design and deliver custom technical work for our customers and internal teams. This is a post-sales delivery role, not a pre-sales one: you carry no quota and you join after the deal is done, when a customer needs something our platform doesn’t do out of the box.

You’ll serve two kinds of customers. Externally, you’ll take on approved custom projects: integrations, middleware, automations, and extensions built on Onfleet’s APIs and webhooks, scoped from real customer requirements and shipped into production use. Internally, you’ll build tooling that makes our own teams faster and better. Both halves of the work matter, and both run through the same discipline: understand the need, design the solution, ship it, and support it.

If you like translating messy customer requirements into working software, care about quality and craft, and want to work at the leading edge of AI-driven development, we’d love to hear from you.

How we work

We code using agents, and nearly all of our code is written this way. Success here takes a scrutinizing, questioning mindset: the engineers who thrive are the ones who avoid slop, catch the wrong call before it ships, and drive quality and the right engineering choices forward. Generating code is the easy part; knowing what good looks like, and holding the bar, is the job.

For Solutions work specifically, this leverage is the point. Custom builds and internal tooling reward fast, disciplined agent-driven development: small scopes, quick turnarounds, and rigorous review before anything reaches a customer. It also lets you reach beyond your primary languages; parts of our Solutions codebase touch Go and Rust, and we expect you to maintain and modify that code through agentic tools with careful review.

We also expect every engineer to be an active contributor to how we work, not just a consumer of existing workflows. Improving our agentic workflows and tooling is part of the role, and desire and excitement for the application of AI to software development is critical to it.

What you'll do:

  • Own approved customer projects end to end: gather and clarify requirements directly with customers, design the solution, write the scoping and requirements documentation that goes through Product and Engineering review, then build, test, ship, and support it.
  • Build and improve internal tooling for Onfleet teams, applying the same standards of quality and documentation as customer-facing work.
  • Design and implement solutions primarily in TypeScript/Node.js and Python, with agent-assisted work in adjacent languages (Go, Rust) where existing Solutions code requires it.
  • Develop against Onfleet’s APIs, webhooks, and integration surfaces, and debug across the boundary between our platform and customers’ systems.
  • Communicate with customers throughout delivery: setting expectations, reporting progress, handling scope questions, and explaining technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Build and continually improve your own agentic development workflow, from requirements and specs through implementation, testing, and review.
  • Drive quality through disciplined verification and review of your own and agent-produced code, with unit and integration tests as part of how you build.
  • Work in a sprint cadence using Jira: scope and ticket your own projects, give reliable estimates, communicate proactively, and follow through on commitments.
  • Support and troubleshoot deployed Solutions builds in production, including builds you didn’t originally author.
  • Identify patterns across custom builds and flag productization opportunities: when the same solution keeps getting built, help turn it into something repeatable.

What You’ll Bring (required):

  • 4-6+ years of hands-on professional software engineering experience building, shipping, and operating production-quality systems.
  • Proven production delivery. You have personally owned features or projects through deploy and into production support.
  • 2+ years professional experience with TypeScript/JavaScript and Node.js, and working proficiency in Python.
  • Experience delivering code via cloud environments like GCP and AWS.
  • API and webhook fluency. You’ve designed, consumed, and debugged HTTP APIs and webhook-driven integrations, and you can diagnose issues across system boundaries.
  • Customer-facing delivery experience. You have taken requirements directly from customers, translated them into solution designs, and communicated with those customers through delivery, including saying no or proposing alternatives when a request isn’t feasible.
  • Scoping and specification skills. You can write a requirements or scoping document that a product or engineering reviewer can evaluate and approve.
  • Sprint delivery ownership. You have personally scoped, ticketed, and delivered projects through a sprint cadence in Jira or an equivalent tool, owning timeline commitments.
  • Experience creating software using disciplined agentic workflows, and a scrutinizing, questioning mindset: you don’t accept output, your own or an agent’s, at face value, and you surface problems early.
  • Hands-on experience writing both unit and integration tests as part of how you build.
  • CI pipeline ownership: you’ve created, configured, or troubleshot a CI pipeline (GitHub Actions or equivalent), not just consumed one.
  • Experience working in an international team whose common working language is English. Excellent written and spoken English, roughly equivalent to C1: you can run customer conversations, write documentation, and collaborate on a distributed team entirely in English.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Nice To Have:

  • Prior Solutions Engineer, Implementation Engineer, Integration Engineer, or technical consulting experience.
  • Exposure to Go or Rust.
  • SQL and data-work proficiency; experience with reporting or analytics builds.
  • Logistics, delivery, or last-mile domain experience.

Location and Benefits

  • This is a remote role open to candidates based only in Latin America.
  • Onfleet offers flexible work arrangements; you can work from home or anywhere with a reliable internet connection.
  • The team works core hours within US Eastern Time (EST), so the ability to work within these hours is required.
  • Flexibile PTO
  • Laptop Computer and WFH Stipend
  • Technology Stipends (internet/AI)

Compensation

The base salary range for this role is $60,000 to $80,000 USD per year, depending on experience, skills, and background. Where an offer lands within that range reflects the engineering level and the depth and experience a candidate brings to the role.
