About the role

We are seeking a hands-on and motivated Maintenance 2IC to support orchard maintenance operations within our Almond Division. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will assist in maintaining machinery, equipment, and vehicles to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient orchard operations. This role works closely with farm, irrigation, and maintenance teams and is ideal for someone who enjoys practical work, problem solving, and working in a fast-paced agricultural environment.

What you'll do

  • Assist with servicing, repairs, and preventative maintenance across orchard machinery, plant, and equipment
  • Support the Maintenance Manager in coordinating day-to-day maintenance activities
  • Ensure machinery and equipment are operating safely and efficiently to minimise downtime
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify preventative maintenance requirements
  • Maintain accurate service and repair records
  • Assist with supervising, training, and supporting maintenance and operational staff
  • Ensure machinery operators are completing daily equipment checklists
  • Report and action unsafe machinery, equipment, or infrastructure issues
  • Support harvest operations by ensuring harvest equipment is maintained and operating at peak performance
  • Promote and uphold workplace health, safety, and environmental standards across the site

What we're looking for

  • Experience in maintenance, mechanical, agricultural, or trade assistant roles
  • Relevant trade qualification preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices
  • Current driver’s licence
  • Experience working within agriculture, horticulture, or heavy equipment environments will be highly regarded
