About the role

This full-time role provides an opportunity for a detail-oriented and motivated individual with irrigation experience to join our team. As the Irrigation 2IC, you will support the Irrigation Manager in the day-to-day irrigation operations required for optimal almond growth. This includes assisting with irrigation scheduling, data collection, fertiliser applications, and supervising the irrigation team to ensure productivity and efficiency.

What you'll do

  • Support the Irrigation Manager in collecting and analysing irrigation data to ensure optimal irrigation levels throughout the almond growth cycle.
  • Assist with irrigation and fertiliser scheduling and application, while maintaining irrigation infrastructure.
  • Operate key irrigation equipment, including pumping systems, PLCs, irrigation controllers, and related system components.
  • Lead and supervise the irrigation team to ensure efficient operations and timely resolution of issues.
  • Monitor and report wet areas, working with the Irrigation Manager to implement corrective actions.

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 3-5 years previous experience as an Irrigation 2IC or extensive experience as a Farm Leading Hand, ideally with expertise in almond orchards, tree nuts, or perennial horticultural/viticultural crops.
  • Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills to effectively lead a team.
  • A current driving licence.
