Work Location: Concord, CA (Fully Onsite, no remote)
Employment Details: Full Time, Exempt, Monday-Friday during business hours
Compensation: $100,000-115,000/year
About the role: We are looking for an Accounts Payable Manager for our Accounting Department. In this role they will be managing all of SHELTER, Inc. accounts payable, accruals, general ledger account analysis and reconciliations. They will be responsible for processing and maintaining prepaid expenses, and deferred rent accounts. Assist with month-end close and the preparation of the annual budget for multiple entities. This role reports to our Controller.

What you’ll do:
- Manage 2 Accounting Staff members; this includes a Senior Accountant and Accountant.
- Follow agency procedures for compliance; coding and processing invoices including: distinguishing appropriate accounting period, determining agency, grant or department allocation, ensuring proper G/L account codes are used, prepaid expenses and classification of nonemployee compensation
- Manage check runs for agency, and its subsidiaries as needed.
- Prepare monthly and yearly accruals and adjustments for the accounting cycle
- Maintain Prepaid Expense items and deferred rent schedule
- Ensure all account aging issues are identified, communicated (especially with respect to necessity for accruals), and resolved in a timely manner
- Manage Corporate accounts and Corporate Credit Cards
- Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts and preparing journal entries
- Provide detail account variance analysis
- Assist with the development of budgets
- Manage 1099 processes for various SHELTER, Inc. entities and resolving any issues
- Process Quarterly Federal, State, Sales and Use Tax payments
- Perform daily approval ACH and wire activity
- Assist with accounting department audit requests
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent education desired. Associate's degree in accounting will be considered.
- Experience with Sage Intacct software or equivalent ERP. QuickBooks experience alone is not considered sufficient.
- 2-4 years’ experience with processing invoices
- 2-3 years’ experience with general ledger, month-end close functions, reconciliations,
- 2-3 years management or supervisory experience.
- Experience with Fund Accounting, HUD and Government Contracting, Non-Profit accounting experience highly desired.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Word, Excel, and Outlook) required.
- Experience working in diverse settings with people across all socio-economic spectrums and a wide variety of personalities and roles – staff, residents, local agencies, contractors, lenders, etc.
- Working knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
- Flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed to meet established deadlines.

- Must successfully pass a criminal background check and credit check.
- Must provide TB test clearance
