Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Space Planner to support DHS/FPS with workplace planning, space utilization, site assessments, relocation planning, and office/facility reconfiguration activities.

The Space Planner will evaluate existing and future space requirements and develop practical workplace solutions that improve utilization, support organizational changes, and align with Government requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain space plans for FPS office and facility requirements.
  • Evaluate existing space utilization and identify opportunities for more efficient use of Government facilities.
  • Conduct site assessments and evaluate existing conditions.
  • Develop preliminary layouts and space configurations for relocations, expansions, consolidations, and reconfigurations.
  • Support furniture, workstation, seating, and workplace planning activities.
  • Coordinate space requirements with FPS personnel, facility representatives, project managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Support relocation and move planning activities.
  • Evaluate alternative space configurations and provide recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate space-planning documentation, drawings, layouts, and related records.
  • Support cost and schedule considerations associated with space changes.
  • Participate in site visits and coordination meetings as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Active NCIDQ certification — mandatory.
  • Experience in workplace planning, architectural/interior planning, facilities planning, space utilization, or similar environments.
  • Ability to develop and interpret space plans and related documentation.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
