Product Designer

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead product design from discovery through launch and iteration across the product lifecycle
  • Balance user needs with business objectives to make strategic product decisions
  • Conduct user research and use data to inform product strategy and design decisions
  • Define and prioritize features in collaboration with product managers and stakeholders
  • Analyze competitive landscape and market trends to identify opportunities
  • Design end-to-end user experiences including research, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs
  • Establish success metrics and measure product performance against business and user goals
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders
  • Communicate product vision, strategy, and design decisions to diverse audiences
  • Maintain and evolve design systems to ensure consistency and efficiency
  • Use AI as an enablement tool to maximize productivity and delivery

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience in product design with demonstrated impact on product success
  • Strong portfolio showcasing end-to-end product design process and measurable business outcomes
  • Expert proficiency with Figma, including prototyping and design systems
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Proven ability to collaborate with product managers on product strategy and roadmapping
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of key product metrics (adoption, retention, conversion, revenue)
  • Demonstrated professionalism in behavior and presentation
  • Active listener who is kind and passionate about building successful products
  • Experience working directly with U.S. based clients and stakeholders
  • Adaptable and quick to adopt AI tools to improve design workflow and delivery
  • Knowledge of actionable UX, including designing AI-powered experiences that guide users to clear next steps

Required Technical Skills

Product Strategy & Business

  • Product Strategy Documentation: Document clear design goals aligned with business objectives, including competitive analysis, target user segments, and feature prioritization
  • Job-to-be-Done Analysis: Conduct analysis to ensure solutions focus on the actual jobs users need to accomplish
  • Feature Prioritization: Strategically plan and prioritize features based on user needs, business value, and technical feasibility
  • Competitive Analysis: Analyze competitive landscape and market positioning to identify opportunities and differentiation
  • Success Metrics: Define and track product success metrics including adoption, retention, conversion, and business KPIs
  • Product Lifecycle Management: Lead product design across discovery, definition, development, launch, and iteration phases

User Research & Testing

  • Interview Methodologies: Conduct contextual inquiries, ethnographic research, and user interviews to deeply understand user needs and motivations
  • User Testing Methodologies: Design and conduct usability testing, task-based testing, and A/B testing to validate product concepts
  • Data Synthesis: Skillfully synthesize quantitative data from analytics with qualitative insights to inform product decisions
  • Analytics Tools: Use tools like Google Analytics to analyze user behavior, track key metrics, and optimize the product journey
  • Presentation of Insights: Create compelling presentations using storytelling techniques and data visualization to influence product decisions

User Understanding

  • Persona/User Identification: Define and document users and personas based on research to guide product strategy
  • Journey Mapping: Map user journeys to visualize touchpoints, pain points, and opportunities for product improvement
  • User Pain-Point Identification: Identify and prioritize pain points, advising stakeholders on when to address them with urgency
  • As-Is-State Mapping: Map current state of user flows to identify how customers accomplish their goals and where opportunities exist
  • Designing to Meet User Goals: Prioritize user goals while balancing business requirements and technical constraints

Product Design Process

  • User Flowcharts & Diagrams: Create visual maps that define user interactions and refine product journeys
  • Site-Mapping: Visualize product structures to ensure intuitive navigation and support roadmapping
  • Wireframing: Create wireframes that communicate product structure, functionality, and intended behaviors
  • Flow Prototyping: Generate detailed user flow maps and create prototypes to test product concepts
  • Broad Solution Exploration: Generate multiple ideas quickly, showing clear rationale for why certain ideas were eliminated
  • Instances: Anticipate all scenarios that users and systems may generate to save time and money

Interaction & Visual Design

  • Responsive Design: Ensure product experiences are optimized for all devices and usage contexts
  • Design Patterns: Apply established design patterns to solve problems efficiently and create consistent experiences
  • Design Systems: Create and maintain comprehensive design systems using atomic design and design token management
  • Interface Polish: Create aesthetically pleasing, on-brand interfaces with meticulous attention to detail
  • Typography: Select fonts that align with product tone, readability, and brand identity
  • Color: Apply color theory principles while meeting accessibility standards
  • Micro-Copy: Write copy that builds trust and guides users to complete desired actions
  • Final Copywriting: Ensure copy is curated to persuade users to take specific actions aligned with business goals
  • Motion Design: Create engaging animations that enhance the product experience
  • Accessibility: Ensure products meet accessibility guidelines and are inclusive by design
  • Conceptual Imagery: Communicate product vision through visual representations and metaphors
  • Final Imagery: Use imagery strategically to enhance user experience while ensuring inclusivity

Documentation & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Clear Documentation: Provide exact specifications, dimensions, color codes, and interaction details to reduce development misinterpretation
  • Asset Prep & Delivery: Export assets in various formats with clear naming conventions and version control
  • Version Management: Maintain organized files with detailed notes using tools like Jira or Trello
  • Style Sheets: Create and maintain comprehensive style guides for consistent product experience
  • Proactive Communication with Engineers: Lead meaningful engagement with developers to make informed product decisions
  • Design Quality Assurance: Ensure implementation aligns with product vision and design intent
  • QA Communication & Documentation: Address QA issues through clear communication and prioritization
  • Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with product managers, executives, and business stakeholders to align product decisions

  1. Application and Portfolio evaluation
  2. 30-minute screening with a member of our Recruitment team
  3. 1-hour Virtual design session interview with one of our senior designers (focus on product thinking and problem-solving)
  4. 1-hour Virtual final interview with our Head of Design (focus on strategic thinking and collaboration)
