PURPOSE:  

To maintain a safe, beautiful, and compliant campus in accordance with our licensing agencies and with Youth Haven’s vision and mission.


FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain campus grounds, including routine trash removal and identification of safety concerns.
  • Monitor facilities and promptly report maintenance and repair issues to the Facilities Manager.
  • Ensure buildings, grounds, and campus operations are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and appearance.
  • Conduct daily inspections of campus facilities to verify quality, cleanliness, and operational readiness.
  • Perform custodial duties in cottages, administration buildings, and other assigned areas.
  • Complete preventative maintenance and deep-cleaning tasks, including floor scrubbing, polishing, window cleaning, and blind maintenance.
  • Empty trash receptacles and replace liners throughout the campus.
  • Complete assigned work orders related to maintenance, cleaning, repairs, and service requests.
  • Report malfunctioning equipment and ensure compliance with maintenance plans, licensing requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of completed work and facility-related activities.
  • Foster positive, ethical, and professional relationships with staff, residents, clients, and visitors.
  • Promote campus safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Assist with special events, programs, and campus activities as requested.
  • Support campus beautification projects and initiatives.
  • Ensures supplies are kept according to safety standards.
  • Perform or be trained in light handyman support as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Proficiency with basic technology, including computers, mobile devices, email, and work order management systems.
  • Ability to successfully complete required online training programs (20+ hours).
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to non-disclosure requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and respond promptly to maintenance and service requests.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to extensively stand and walk
  • Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and access confined or restrictive areas as necessary.
  • Ability to use visual, auditory, and olfactory senses to inspect facilities, identify maintenance needs, detect hazards, and respond to emergency alarms.
  • Ability to perform emergency response procedures as required.

Work Environment and Additional Requirements

  • Regular work schedule is 10:00 am to 6:30 pm
  • Ability to support occasional after-hours activities, emergencies, special events, and campus programs.
  • Commitment to following all safety procedures and utilizing required personal protective equipment (PPE).

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
  • Previous experience in facilities maintenance, custodial services, groundskeeping, or a related field preferred.
  • Technical, vocational, or trade certification in facilities maintenance, building services, or a related field a plus
  • Familiarity with building maintenance practices, cleaning procedures, and facility operations.
