Senior Power BI Developer
Location: Plano, TX | Experience: 8+ years | Reports to: [Manager, BI & Analytics]
Type: Full-time | Work model: [On-site / Hybrid]
About the Role
We're hiring a Senior Power BI Developer in Plano to own enterprise reporting end to end — from stakeholder conversations through governed semantic models, tuned SQL, and dashboards executives rely on daily. You'll be the technical authority on Power BI, contribute to a secondary Tableau estate, and mentor junior developers.
What You'll Do
- Build in Power BI: Executive dashboards, interactive reports, KPI scorecards, and paginated reports — with complex DAX measures and Power Query (M) transformations.
- Govern and secure: Implement Row-Level Security, tune dataset and report performance, and manage workspaces, refresh schedules, and gateway configuration in Power BI Service.
- Translate requirements: Meet with business and department leaders, convert needs into technical specs and wireframes, and deliver on an Agile cadence.
- Model data: Maintain governed semantic layers with certified metrics, conformed dimensions, and hierarchies; support star/snowflake schemas on Snowflake, Databricks, or equivalent.
- Write serious SQL: Complex joins, CTEs, window functions, and stored procedures — plus profiling and optimization of slow queries and pipelines.
- Validate: Source-to-report reconciliation and regression testing to keep metrics accurate and consistent.
- Support Tableau: Dashboards using LOD expressions, table calculations, parameters, and action filters; extract optimization and Tableau Server/Cloud publishing and permissions.
- Lead: Mentor junior developers, set BI standards, and document architecture and data lineage.
