Learning and Development Specialist

About the role:

The Learning & Development Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, administering, and maintaining Divcon's training content and learning systems that support onboarding, technical training, compliance, and employee development across field operations, technical services, and corporate teams. This role combines instructional design, Learning Management System (LMS) administration, and learning operations support to ensure training content is accurate, scalable, well organized, and aligned with company processes. The position partners closely with subject matter experts, Technical Trainers, HR, and business leaders to support workforce readiness, consistent execution, and operational growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain onboarding programs, role-based learning paths, and blended learning materials for field operations, technical services, and corporate teams.
  • Create eLearning modules, job aids, SOPs, guides, videos, and other training resources that translate complex processes into clear learning content.
  • Partner with subject matter experts, Technical Trainers, HR, and business leaders to capture, validate, and update technical and operational training content.
  • Support standardization and version control of training materials, operational documentation, and learning content across teams.
  • Review AI-assisted, vendor-provided, and subject matter expert-developed training content for accuracy, clarity, usability, and alignment with company standards.
  • Administer and maintain the LMS, including courses, certifications, learning paths, user access, course assignments, training workflows, and training records.
  • Maintain LMS data integrity, content organization, version control, and audit-ready training documentation.
  • Partner with IT and vendors to troubleshoot LMS functionality, improve user experience, and support system enhancements.
  • Track employee training progress, certifications, compliance requirements, and role-based completion status.
  • Maintain skills matrices, workforce training records, dashboards, and recurring reports for Learning & Development leadership and business stakeholders.
  • Analyze learner engagement, completion trends, and training data to identify gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Support compliance tracking and documentation for internal and external training requirements.
  • Support onboarding rollouts, curriculum implementation, and learning initiatives that advance workforce readiness and organizational growth.
  • Coordinate training content updates, course launches, learner communications, and learning operations activities as assigned.
  • Promote continuous learning, process consistency, and operational excellence through organized, accessible, and reliable learning resources.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in Learning & Development, Instructional Design, Learning Operations, Workforce Development, or a related field.
  • Experience designing onboarding programs, compliance training, technical training materials, and role-based learning paths.
  • Experience supporting technical, operational, construction, manufacturing, infrastructure, or field-service environments preferred.
  • Hands-on experience administering LMS platforms and managing courses, learning paths, training records, reports, and user workflows.
  • Working knowledge of instructional design principles, adult learning methods, curriculum development, and blended learning approaches.
  • Ability to translate complex technical or operational information into clear, structured, and scalable training content.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel for tracking, reporting, and analysis.
  • Experience with Articulate 360, Storyline, Camtasia, Canva, or comparable eLearning, video, and content development tools preferred.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted content tools and ability to review content for accuracy, clarity, and company alignment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to prepare reports, dashboards, and training insights.
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, documentation, and process management skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with subject matter experts, trainers, HR, operations, and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional travel as needed to support training, onboarding, or workforce development initiatives.
  • Sit and/or stand for extended periods while performing computer-based tasks, meetings, and training support activities.
  • Use hands and fingers to operate standard office equipment, including computers, keyboards, mice, telephones, scanners, and printers.
  • Occasionally stand, walk, bend, stoop, or reach to access filing cabinets, retrieve documents, or attend meetings and training sessions.
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull light objects and materials weighing up to 20-25 pounds, such as boxes of files, training materials, or office supplies.
  • Have sufficient vision, with or without correction, to read computer screens, printed documents, and small print; and sufficient hearing to communicate effectively by phone and in person.
  • Work in a typical indoor office environment with moderate noise levels from office equipment, conversations, meetings, and occasional interruptions.
