About the role
As Senior Accountant for Real Estate Development, you will be the financial backbone of a globally distributed portfolio of high-end development projects. Working closely with project managers and leadership, you’ll track budgets, scrutinize assumptions, and ensure financial accuracy at every step. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives on detail, discipline, and accountability.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Expense Tracking & Reconciliation: Manage day-to-day accounting for multiple construction projects, including vendor invoices, credit card activity, and bank reconciliations.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Maintain and update project budgets (CapEx and OpEx), tracking actuals vs. budget and surfacing variances proactively.
- Financial Analysis: Review and challenge assumptions behind budgets and estimates, ensuring alignment with scope and market realities.
- Reporting: Create clear, structured reporting for leadership on YTD spend, project forecasts, and capital allocation.
- Documentation & Controls: Ensure contracts, invoices, and supporting documents are organized, compliant, and audit-ready.
- Collaboration: Partner with project managers, vendors, and internal finance teams to support smooth execution of projects across multiple jurisdictions.
WHO YOU ARE
- Experienced in accounting or project finance (5+ years) with exposure to construction or real estate development.
- Comfortable handling both the details (bank recs, invoices, budget spreadsheets) and higher-level financial reviews.
- Highly organized, disciplined, and detail-oriented, with a process-driven mindset.
- Skilled in Excel/Google Sheets; familiarity with accounting software and project tools is a plus.
- Effective communicator — able to flag issues early, provide clear reporting, and liaise with both leadership and on-the-ground project teams.
- Adaptable to working across diverse regions, currencies, and vendor practices.
- CPA designation is a must
