Fluid2Chip

Field Engineer - Data Center Liquid Cooling

About Fluid2Chip

Fluid2Chip is a specialized technical services practice built on decades of data center expertise. We bridge the gap between traditional construction teams and the shift to high-density liquid cooling — delivering expert commissioning, flush-and-fill, fluid chemistry, QA/QC, and system optimization services that ensure mission-critical liquid cooling infrastructure performs from day one.

Salary

Fluid2Chip recognizes salary ranges from job boards do not necessarily reflect our pay ranges. In many instances we out-compete those ranges for well-qualified candidates.

Job Summary

Fluid2Chip is seeking experienced Field Engineers to support the deployment, installation, commissioning, and operational readiness of mission-critical liquid cooling and water-based cooling systems within high-performance computing and data center environments.

This role is highly field-oriented and customer-facing, requiring strong technical awareness, professional communication, critical thinking, and disciplined documentation skills. Field Engineers serve as Fluid2Chip’s on-site technical representatives during installation and commissioning activities, helping observe system readiness, identify concerns, document field conditions, and support successful project execution.

The ideal candidate understands both the mechanical and chemical requirements associated with mission-critical cooling systems and can recognize installation inconsistencies, operational risks, and procedural concerns before they become larger issues.

This is not a laboratory or water sampling role. Success in this position depends on proactive observation, sound judgment, effective communication, and the ability to operate professionally within active mission-critical environments.

This role requires flexibility to travel around the US up to 75%.

Essential Functions

  • Observe and support installation, commissioning, cleaning, flushing, fill/purge, startup, and operational readiness activities for liquid cooling and water-based cooling systems
  • Serve as a customer-facing technical representative for Fluid2Chip at active project sites and mission-critical facilities
  • Monitor field activities and identify potential mechanical, operational, installation, or procedural concerns related to system quality, reliability, and readiness
  • Understand the chemical and mechanical requirements associated with closed-loop cooling systems and mission-critical infrastructure
  • Maintain detailed daily reporting, field observations, photographic documentation, issue tracking, and activity summaries
  • Communicate findings, concerns, risks, and project updates clearly and professionally through established chain-of-command processes
  • Work collaboratively with customers, contractors, commissioning providers, operations personnel, and project teams during all phases of deployment
  • Support field coordination activities while understanding that contractors and trade personnel maintain responsibility for execution and direction of work
  • Recognize when escalation or additional technical support is required and proactively seek assistance when needed
  • Support adherence to site procedures, safety expectations, cleanliness requirements, and commissioning standards
  • Represent Fluid2Chip professionally in highly visible customer and mission-critical environments

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical) or a related technical field
    • Equivalent hands-on experience in water treatment, commissioning, or complex fluid systems may be considered in lieu of a formal degree
  • Experience working with mission-critical cooling systems, hydronic systems, industrial water systems, mechanical commissioning, or related infrastructure environments
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and practical understanding of fluid-based cooling systems
  • Ability to think critically and make sound field observations in dynamic construction and commissioning environments
  • Strong organizational, reporting, and technical documentation skills
  • Ability to proactively identify issues and communicate them effectively and professionally
  • Comfortable interacting directly with customers, contractors, engineers, and operations teams
  • Ability to follow procedures, respect chain of command, and work collaboratively across multiple organizations and stakeholders
  • Comfortable working in active construction sites, data centers, and commissioning environments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and cloud-based collaboration/documentation platforms
  • Familiarity with Autodesk construction/design tools and Procore project management software
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% to customer and project sites
