About the role
Integer Technologies is seeking an Autonomous System Test Engineer to own the planning, preparation, and execution of testing for our autonomy, perception, and maritime hardware systems. In this hands-on role, you will turn engineering requirements into actionable test plans, build and integrate the hardware and instrumentation needed to execute them, and capture the data that drives our products forward. You will be the connective tissue between our engineering teams and the systems they build—ensuring that what works in design works on the bench, in the lab, and on the water.
Because Integer is a fast-moving research and development organization, this role is intentionally broad. Beyond formal test campaigns, you will assist with day-to-day engineering activities—setting up equipment, maintaining test assets, supporting field events, and pitching in wherever the team needs hands. This is an ideal position for a versatile, hardware-comfortable engineer who enjoys variety, problem-solving in the real world, and seeing systems proven out from the first bench check to on-water demonstration
What you'll do
- Test Planning & Preparation: Translate system and project requirements into clear, executable test plans, procedures, and success criteria for hardware, software, and integrated systems.
- Test Execution: Conduct bench, lab, and field tests; operate test equipment and instrumentation; collect, log, and organize test data; and document results, anomalies, and lessons learned.
- Hardware Integration: Integrate sensors, compute, power, and supporting hardware into test fixtures, benches, and vehicle platforms; fabricate cabling, mounts, and instrumentation setups as needed.
- Test Asset Maintenance: Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot test equipment, fixtures, and hardware assets to keep them mission-ready; track configuration and ensure repeatability.
- Field & On-Water Support: Support field trials and at-sea testing of autonomous and maritime systems, including setup, operation, data capture, and teardown in real-world conditions.
- Cross-Functional Support: Assist software, hardware, and systems engineers with day-to-day activities—debugging, prototyping, data collection, and general engineering support across active projects.
- Data & Reporting: Process and summarize test data, and develop clear content for deliverables including monthly reports, project reviews, and demonstration events.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to test methods, tooling, and procedures to increase efficiency, repeatability, and safety.
