About the role

The Clinical Intake Worker works as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide clinical intake for persons presenting to PAARC for help with issues related to substance use, abuse and/or withdrawal and also problem gambling concerns.


We are hiring for one (1) full-time, permanent role working at our main office on Dixie Road.


What you'll do

  • Receive and process referrals from individuals requesting service via telephone
  • Orient clients to PAARC programs and services, either in group or one-on-one format
  • Refer clients to appropriate treatment services in accordance with established protocols
  • Schedule client's first appointments with counsellors and forward appropriate completed documentation (e.g. privacy, confidentiality forms)
  • Advocate for clients by helping people understand that clients may choose from a range of possible treatment goals and options, and by helping others understand the rights of and the unique needs of our clients
  • Respond to crisis situations by providing or referring to crisis intervention
  • Develop and maintain professional relations with clients, adhering to the standards set out in the Social Workers and Social Service Workers Code of Ethics and any other required Codes of Ethics
  • Initiate a client file and maintain written and electronic documentation, according to best practice and legal guidelines, of all contacts with or about the client, in a timely manner, according to PAARC policy and guidelines
  • Ensure the timely communication of essential information to team and appropriate stakeholders
  • Represent PAARC at all times in a professional manner
  • Participate in PAARC All-Staff Events


Skills & Competencies

  • Able to maintain constructive, open, honest, two-way communication with management, supervisor, colleagues, partners, suppliers, clients, and all visitors
  • Strong written communications skills
  • Able to make decisions based on organizational values, policy and organizational objectives/priorities
  • Able to work without supervision, with an appreciation of when to seek input from others
  • Able to develop and maintain excellent record-keeping and file management systems


Requirements

  • Post secondary degree in human services or substance abuse, or a combination of relevant education and experience
  • Experience working with persons with substance use concerns
  • An understanding of substance misuse/abuse problems in alignment with PAARC philosophy of Harm Reduction
  • Non-violent crisis intervention, ASIST, CPR, First-Aid certifications
  • Attention to detail, thoroughness

The pay range for this role is:

53,000 - 59,000 CAD per year (Dixie Road)
