HR Generalist

R3 Lithium operates North America's first commercial-scale lithium carbonate recovery facility, located in Covington, Georgia. Using a lithium-first extraction process, the company recovers, refines, and returns lithium carbonate from recycled black mass into the battery supply chain for energy storage systems, defense applications, and electric vehicles. The HR Generalist will play a key role in supporting all aspects of the employee lifecycle at R3 Lithium. As part of a lean and growing HR team, this position will serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers while providing hands-on support across a broad range of HR functions, including onboarding, payroll, benefits, HRIS administration, employee relations, compliance, performance management, recruiting, and employee engagement.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, evolving environment and is comfortable wearing multiple hats. The successful candidate will be proactive, resourceful, detail-oriented, and willing to jump in wherever needed to support employees and the broader business.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a go-to HR resource for employees and managers, responding to questions and providing guidance on HR programs, policies, processes, and day-to-day employee needs.
  • Manage and support employee lifecycle activities, including onboarding, employee changes, leaves, promotions, transfers, and offboarding.
  • Coordinate and lead new hire orientation, ensuring employees are set up for success and understand company policies, benefits, culture, and expectations.
  • Support payroll administration, including reviewing employee changes, time and attendance information, deductions, and other payroll-related data to help ensure timely and accurate processing.
  • Support benefits administration and serve as a resource for employee benefit questions, enrollment, qualifying life events, and related processes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee information within the HRIS and other HR systems, ensuring data integrity and appropriate documentation.
  • Assist with recruiting and hiring activities as needed, including job postings, interview coordination, candidate communication, offers, and pre-employment processes.
  • Support employee relations matters by helping address employee questions and concerns, documenting issues, and partnering with HR leadership and managers as appropriate.
  • Support performance management processes, including goal setting, performance reviews, employee development, and related documentation.
  • Assist with employee engagement initiatives, company communications, recognition programs, and other efforts that contribute to a positive employee experience and company culture.
  • Support HR compliance activities, including employee records, I-9s, required notices, reporting, and adherence to applicable employment laws and company policies.
  • Review, develop, and maintain HR policies, standard operating procedures, guidelines, templates, and other HR documentation.
  • Prepare HR reports, analyze workforce data, and support compensation, headcount, and other HR-related analyses as needed.
  • Partner with managers and employees across the organization to identify needs, resolve issues, and continuously improve HR processes and the employee experience.
  • Support special projects and evolving HR priorities as the company continues to grow and build its HR infrastructure.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of broad Human Resources experience, preferably within a startup, growing organization, corporate, or manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting multiple areas of HR and the ability to independently manage day-to-day HR responsibilities.
  • Comfortable working in a lean HR environment where responsibilities may evolve and team members are expected to contribute outside of their primary areas of responsibility.
  • Strong judgment and demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving environment while effectively managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Rippling or similar HRIS/payroll platforms is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of employment practices and applicable federal and state employment laws.
  • Proactive and resourceful approach with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and take ownership of whatever needs to get done.
