About the role

 The Client Services Specialist plays a key role in ensuring children and families receive high-quality customer service and timely access to STARRY programs and services. This position supports clients throughout the enrollment and service process, provides direct support to children and families, and helps connect families with appropriate resources. The role also supports community partnerships and outreach, data entry and client record accuracy, and front-office operations to promote an efficient, welcoming, and responsive experience for clients and community partners.


  • Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service, creating a welcoming, respectful, and supportive experience for clients, families, visitors, and community partners.
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain programs, services, eligibility requirements, enrollment processes, and next steps.
  • Ability to effectively support the client intake and enrollment process, including collecting required information, determining eligibility, entering client information, and scheduling initial appointments.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to successfully manage front desk responsibilities, incoming calls, client needs, scheduling, and administrative tasks in a busy office environment.Provide direct client services at a minimum of 25% of time including service coordination and planning, community outreach as approved by supervisor, and supporting skills groups.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong knowledge of community resources, eligibility requirements, referral processes, and services available to children, youth, and families.
  • Strong attention to detail and proficiency with web-based databases, including accurate data entry, transferring required information between organizational and state systems, and maintaining complete client records.
  • Ability to conduct ongoing documentation and data quality reviews, identify missing or incomplete information, communicate documentation needs to providers, and follow through to support timely and accurate records.
  • Ability to communicate organizational programs and services to community partners, strengthen referral relationships, and support efforts to increase appropriate referrals to programs.
  • Ability to assist with the coordination of community events, outreach activities, resource fairs, and program activities as approved by supervisor, while consistently demonstrating professionalism, confidentiality, reliability, and sound judgment.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant education and/or experience in human services, social services, behavioral health, customer service, or a related field considered.
  • Experience working with children, families, and/or individuals in human services or community-based settings preferred.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and compassionately with clients, staff, leadership, and community partners.
  • Strong written, verbal, electronic, and professional communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain accurate client records, review documentation for completeness, and support data entry and quality assurance activities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, and the ability to learn and effectively utilize electronic health records and other database systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment, adapt to changing needs, and identify creative solutions.
  • Ability to respond appropriately and professionally to challenging or crisis situations.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with community partners and develop knowledge of community resources and referral options.
  • Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality, ethical practice, professional boundaries, and culturally responsive service delivery.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel as needed.
  • Ability to meet all applicable background check, contractual, and organizational requirements.
