About the role

We are recruiting a Commercial Insurance Sales, Account Executive to lead the charge on establishing new business opportunities in this channel across Canada. Today, Sterling Brokers is strongly represented in the Group Benefits market by professional advisors and consultants across Canada and now this is your opportunity to join the newest growth segment as we expand into the Commercial market.

This is a fully remote role with the opportunity to work out of one of our local offices if you prefer (Vancouver, BC; Red Deer, AB; Toronto, ON; or Halifax, NS). From time to time, you may be requested to attend meetings or functions within Canada or potentially outside of Canada.

What you'll do

  • Business lead development for Sales/service of commercial lines insurance, including scoping the insurance requirements of prospects to ensure the right coverage is in place.
  • Relationship and retention focused, you are responsible for customer engagement and development in the commercial line of business where your license permits.
  • Manage the end to end sales process.
  • Understand client needs and present tailored solutions, effectively demonstrating the value of our insurance products and services. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless implementation and delivery of solutions to clients meets with the requirements for the P&C line of business.
  • Collaborate with internal senior stakeholders to ensure that the correct infrastructure is in place to support the needs of the P&C line of business. 
  • Continuously expand your knowledge of our offerings and industry trends to stay ahead of the competition. 
  • Ensure all regulatory requirements are met and comply with all internal policies and procedures.
  • Review client exposures, loss experience, current coverages, and recommend appropriate products and services.
  • Keep organized records and tracking progress toward business goals and quotas using Salesforce. 
  • Leverage P&C Applications/Software, Excel, Salesforce, and Salesloft to streamline your sales activities, track progress, and optimize your performance.
  • Strategic planning with your manager to constantly fine tune your territory approach to improve overall sales results on a weekly, monthly, & quarterly basis.
  • You will receive cross-selling leads from a variety of sources (BDR’s, Marketing, Partnerships), but will also be expected to generate new business opportunities as well.

Qualifications

  • CAIB license required (level 1 minimum)
  • RIBO license (1-3). 
  • Experience working with Canadian insurance carriers is preferred.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in business administration or finance related discipline, Sales, Marketing or equivalent experience in the industry.
  • Minimum requirement of 3 years of insurance experience in P&C commercial lines.
  • Experience working in a B2B sales environment with a multi-stage sales process.
  • Strong track-record of independently generating leads, qualifying prospects, and closing deals. 
  • Proficiency in utilizing Excel for data analysis and reporting. 
  • Experience with Salesforce and Salesloft, or similar CRM and sales automation tools. 
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with clients. 
  • Self-motivated and target-driven, with a passion for exceeding sales goals. 
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
