Reporting to the Digital Agriculture Manager, you will be part of the wider IT & Data (ITD) Function. You will find yourself collaborating closely with the Field data digitalisation, Impact and MEL teams. Together we aim to ensure Better Cotton staff are empowered to succeed in their roles supporting global cotton communities through geospatial innovations.

The Challenge


Looking ahead to 2030, we are targeting reducing GHG emissions from cotton production by half, big cuts in synthetic pesticide use, improve soil health across our network, improve farm income and support women’s empowerment among farmers and farm workers.  

As Digitalisation Coordinator, you will use your skills to conceptualise, innovate and execute tasks related to the field data digitalisation. This role involves contributing to the digitalisation initiatives across the country field operations. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in digitalisation process, coordination, and a thorough understanding of data collection tools. This role will be responsible for implementing digitalisation projects, building Partner capabilities, developing CommCare and ODK based field tools and guide in generating insights. 


Areas that play to your strengths


We are seeking a motivated Digitalisation Coordinator to join our Team. In this role, you will be responsible for; 

 

  • Setup Mobile-based Data Collection Solutions: 
  1. Collaborate with the global ITD and MEL team to identify and implement mobile-based data collection solutions. 
  2. Customize and configure tools such as CommCare, ODK, Mendix and Microsoft Dynamics to meet specific project requirements. 
  • Prepare and Implement Field Data Digitalisation Rollout Plan: 
  1. Support the country management in the implementation of the Better Cotton Field Data Policy. 
  2. In consultation with the Global ITD team, develop a comprehensive plan of field data digitalisation rollout in country field operations. 
  3. Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure successful implementation of digitalisation initiatives. 
  4. Monitor progress and adjust strategies as needed to achieve country digitalisation plan 
  • Assess Programme Partners' Capacity for Digitalisation: 
  1. Evaluate the digitalisation readiness and capacity of Programme Partners. 
  2. Provide support and training to enhance Partners' capabilities in adopting digital tools and processes. 
  • Organise and Manage Country-level Working Group on Digitalisation: 
  1. Establish and coordinate a working group comprised of internal and external stakeholders to drive digitalisation efforts. This would consist of all country functions and/or representatives from Programme Partners. 
  2. Facilitate meetings, workshops, and training sessions to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing. 
  3. Capacity Building 
  4. Develop and impart trainings about tools and processes related to field data digitalisation to the Programme Partners 
  5. Develop relevant training material 
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: 
  1. Work closely with Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) teams to ensure alignment with data collection and analysis requirements. 
  2. Collaborate with Programme and Assurance teams to integrate digitalisation efforts into programme activities. 
  • Setup Inquiry/Request Handling Mechanism: 
  1. Establish a user support system to address inquiries and requests related to digital tools and systems. 
  2. Help Programme Partners with user account management, access control, and troubleshooting. 


We are looking for someone who has


the following skills, knowledge, and experience:


Essential 

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or a related field with at least 5 years of relevant work experience 
  • Proven experience in digitalisation project management, preferably in the development sector. 
  • Experience working with / developing digital data collection tools and apps such as ODK, CommCare and Mendix. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering results in challenging environments. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and flexible approach to project management. 
  • Demonstrable analytical and problem-solving skills  
  • Experience in coaching and/or supporting other staff  
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across different teams and cultures, strong relationship-building skills and service-oriented attitude  
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken, with attentive listening abilities and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely  
  • Self-starter able to work autonomously and adapt to changing priorities 

Desirable 

  • Background experience in Monitoring & evaluation is an asset 
  • Prior experience in capacity building and training is highly desirable. 
  • Experience of working with smallholder cotton farmer contexts will be added advantage.

Working arrangements


The position is full-time (40 hours per week) and will be based in Delhi. Better Cotton offers flexible working, with core hours being 10 am – 4 pm.  The position will require limited travel within and/or outside the country.
