About the Job
Are you purpose-led and ready to embark on a journey to shape the future of sustainable cotton? Join us at Better Cotton Initiative Strategy Support & Data Analysis Coordinator and lead a global team responsible for delivering high impact communications for the world’s largest cotton sustainability initiative – we support more sustainable farming practices and farm livelihoods for nearly 3 million farmers in the Better Cotton Initiative network in 23 countries around the world.
The Challenge
Looking ahead to 2030, we are targeting reducing GHG emissions from cotton production by half, big cuts in synthetic pesticide use, improve soil health across our network, improve farm income and support women’s empowerment among farmers and farm workers.
The Coordinator – Strategy Support and Data Analysis will strengthen Better Cotton India’s organisational delivery and country strategy execution by consolidating and analysing internal data across functions, monitoring external developments, and maintaining strategic trackers specific to India. The role will provide the Country Director and leadership team with intelligent synthesis of internal and external inputs, enabling timely, evidence-based decision-making and ensuring that the India country strategy remains coherent and adaptive.
The position will also support stakeholder mapping, strategic documentation, and India specific content adaptation. With India contributing significantly to Better Cotton’s 2030 strategic goals, the need for coordinated intelligence, planning support, and contextual analysis has become urgent. By being responsible for background inputs, trend mapping, and information analysis, this role enables the Country Director and functional leads to stay focused on strategic leadership and delivery, while ensuring that crucial signals and insights are not overlooked or delayed. The Coordinator will work extensively with team leads in India and with external stakeholders, including policy institutions and semi-government bodies, to ensure that market dynamics and regulatory developments are systematically linked to internal planning and decision-making.
Responsibilities
We are seeking a motivated Strategy Support & Data Analysis Coordinator to join our Programmes & Countries Function. In this role, you will be responsible for:
A. Data & Intelligence Coordination:
• Gather and consolidate structured internal data across Programme, MEL, Supply Chain, Assurance, Membership, Finance, and HR, ensuring accuracy and comparability.
• Analyse monthly updates and project progress to surface cross-functional trends, bottlenecks, and implications for India’s country strategy.
• Track external developments (policy, cotton trade, climate, regulation) and synthesise these with internal data to highlight risks, opportunities, and strategic relevance.
• Provide concise intelligence briefs that enable the Country Director and leadership team to make timely, evidence-based decisions.
B. Planning & Operational Support:
• Maintain timelines and trackers for strategic initiatives and milestones, with a focus on identifying risks of delay or misalignment and their impact on broader strategy.
• Provide structured analysis that supports corrective action and stronger forward planning.
• Support preparation of notes, inputs, and presentations by integrating fragmented functional information into decision-ready content.
C. Communication & Stakeholder Fit
• Review India-facing communication and external facing materials for accuracy, policy adherence, and alignment with country strategy.
• Support mapping of semi-government institutions, industry associations, research organisations, and media stakeholders, analysing their relevance to Better Cotton India’s operations and positioning.
• Prepare briefs and summaries that synthesise internal and external perspectives for senior-level engagement.
D. Knowledge Systems & Coordination
• Develop and improve templates and trackers that support cross-functional analysis and strategic reviews, not only record-keeping.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing across functions by connecting insights into coherent narratives that strengthen India’s strategy execution.
• Ensure institutional memory is preserved across structural changes, programme adjustments, or shifting external conditions with emphasis on continuity of analysis and decision support. Performance Indicators:
• Internal data and monthly/project updates are consolidated and analysed, with findings integrated into country-level decision-making.
• Country strategy and Annual Operating Plan tracking is maintained, regularly updated, and referenced in planning/review meetings.
• External developments (policy, trade, climate, regulation) are captured and synthesised into monthly briefs with clear implications for operations.
• Strategy notes, background briefs, and analysis consistently enable senior-level discussions and timely decisions.
• Knowledge-sharing tools and trackers reduce duplication, improve cross-functional alignment, and maintain continuity during transitions.
