About the Job
The Better Cotton Branch in Uzbekistan is seeking a Membership and Supply Chain (M&SC) Coordinator in Tashkent. The Membership and Supply Chain (M&SC) Coordinator is one of the key roles in Better Cotton’s growing team in Uzbekistan, leading on the delivery of two critical components of the Better Cotton programme: supporting implementation of Better Cotton’s Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard across programme participants, and recruiting and engaging the supplier and manufacturer member and non-member base in driving Better Cotton sourcing from Uzbekistan.
The post-holder will report directly to the Head of the Better Cotton Branch in Uzbekistan and will also receive technical leadership and support from the Global Membership & Supply Chain team, now the Demand & Engagement Team, in a matrix reporting structure. The M&SC Coordinator will support cotton-textile clusters with the rollout of our traceability system , ensuring alignment with local cotton farming practices and supply chain structures. He/She will directly engage with members and non-members interested in joining Better Cotton through several activities such as workshops, training events, field visits, monitoring activities, and so on.

Your Roles and Responsibilities
As part of Supply Chain Operations Programme delivery, you will:
- Engage with programme participants, local cotton producers, ginneries, spinners, and textile manufacturing companies, to promote awareness and compliance with Better Cotton’s CoC Standard and its Certification ensuring accurate and timely submission of the Multi-Site Registration For.
- Coordinate and deliver annual CoC, and training on the Better Cotton Platform (BCP), our online system for traceability, for all clusters.
- Maintain attendance records and report training outcomes to the Compliance Team
- Support the development of contextualised Uzbekistan training materials on CoC audits, and conduct training sessions and workshops on the CoC Standard with Certification Bodies
- Coordinate the onboarding of clusters into the Better Cotton Platform (BCP), ensuring licensing, Decent Work monitoring, and multisite registration requirements are met.
- Oversee the creation and functionality of BCP accounts for large farms, spinners, and ginners.
- Maintain updated records on licensed farms and their associated clusters.
- Monitor and adjust lint volume data in the BCP based on assessment and reporting outcomes.
- Manage the annual zeroing process of BCP inventories in coordination with the Global Supply Chain Operations Team (a sub-function of the Demand & Engagement Team focussed on Chain of Custody implementation)
- Identify and escalate challenges related to scaling supply chain supply chain certification and traceability adoption, such as gaps in digital literacy, infrastructure limitations, or supply chain fragmentation, and propose solutions that might be adopted
- Identify new and existing clusters and serve as the main point of contact for supply chain-related queries.
- Liaise with the Better Cotton Membership team, a sub-function of the Demand & Engagement Team, and keep communication transparent across parties
In the area of the Membership programme, you will:
- Support the engagement and retention of existing Better Cotton Members operating in Uzbekistan, and where needed, coordinate the delivery of key services to members including ensuring good response time, delivery of membership benefits, optimal engagement with Better Cotton Members linked to global and regional supply through their supply chain
- Promote membership to local suppliers and manufacturers, to ensure more suppliers are trained and supported, enhancing strategic commitment to membership and flow of Better Cotton throughout the supply chain.
- Directly support the development of Uzbekistan membership outreach and recruitment plan for retailers and brands, suppliers and Manufacturers, civil society organisations, and producer organisations, in line with Better Cotton’s mission and with his/her line manager which include planning and supporting various national events, Better Cotton led events and field trip.
- Ensure a solid strategic adoption of the Better Cotton programme by high level delegates in cotton-textile cluster and manufacturing companies and maintain these relationships
- Ensure all records relating to Uzbekistan members are kept up to date in our CRM (Salesforce) and are accurate, so that Better Cotton can effectively engage and communicate with all members
- Ensure adequate feedback to Better Cotton HQ on any specific member management or administration issues arising in existing systems for consideration in planning for system and process updates. With the Demand & Engagement Team, contribute to developing membership retention strategies and targets.
In the area of Member and Supply Chain Engagement, Events, Communications and Materials you will:
- Support the planning, design, and organisation of member and supplier events in Uzbekistan, working closely with your line manager and the global Demand & Engagement Team aiming to create engaging and innovative experiences that strengthen stakeholders' connection with Better Cotton.
- Create opportunities for nurturing strong stakeholder dialogue with all categories of Better Cotton Members and stakeholders in designated regions
- Support the overall content, design, and delivery of member and supplier events in Uzbekistan, in collaboration with the line manager and alignment with the global Demand & Engagement Team. Seek to innovate and establish unique stakeholder engagement with Better Cotton
- Promote field trips
- Contribute to and disseminate key communications in alignment with the global M&SC Team
- Ensure that all local material needs are communicated and developed in alignment with the global Demand & Engagement and Communications teams
- Translate (also using translators and other resources) Better Cotton’s materials and lead its adaptation to Uzbekistan specific contexts
- Create an effective communication channel with stakeholders e.g., using approved apps and social media, with the aim of making communication and assistance more efficient, effective, fast and productive, in line with Better Cotton’s data and information security policies
In the area of Member Administration, Financial Accountability and Systems you will:
- Provide administrative services for membership in all the procedures needed to support recruitment, engagement and service delivery
- Ensure internal customer relationship management (CRM) database and all data are updated regularly and ensure data integrity for Better Cotton Members and on-member suppliers in Uzbekistan and designated regions
- Achieve the annual membership income targets for the country as agreed (Renewal + New Member Income)
- Support the global finance function by ensuring timely invoicing, following up with members regarding non-payment, and contributing to the organisation's overall financial health
- Beyond these specific responsibilities the Membership and Supply Chain Coordinator is expected to collaborate on activities as agreed with the line manager to support the delivery of the overall Better Cotton Strategic Plan for Membership and Supply Chain.

The selected candidate will have the following skills, knowledge, and experience:
Skills and Knowledge
- University degree, or equivalent higher education qualification, in a relevant field with an interest in sustainability
- Excellent organisational skills and capacity to multi-task and handle a set of different priorities in a high-paced environment
- Willingness to carry out administrative work with due attention to client detail and reporting financial data
- Good communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, as well as the ability to assimilate and process information for wide-ranging audiences.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to finding and proposing solutions to challenges within clearly defined boundaries
- Proficient IT skills, including but not limited to MS Office suite and database management
- Flexibility and adaptability, as well as the ability to work independently are needed for success in this role
- Communicate effectively in English AND either Uzbek or Russian
- Strong ethics
- Willingness to travel frequently

- Academic background in development and sustainability
- Knowledge of national and local laws and regulations on sustainability-related agenda in Uzbekistan

Experience
Essential
- At least 6 years’ working experience
- Demonstrated experience working with membership, key account management; financial and/or CRM administration, and systems improvement and change management.
- Experience in managing and processing administrative records, financial data, and improving data integrity
- Experience in dealing with commercial organisations in customer management
- Experience working as part of a team, and willingness to give good service internally, and external to the organisation
- Experience in using Salesforce or other CRM system to support key account management, and financial administration
- Experience managing projects and knowledge of project management tools.

- Flexible individual with experience working in a multicultural and multilingual environment across time-zones

Working arrangements
- This is a full time (40 hours per week) position. The successful candidate will receive a one-year contract with Better Cotton, with a three-month initial trial period.
- Better Cotton offers flexible working, with the option to work from home one day per week..
- Frequent travel (especially during the significant production and harvesting months) to cotton production areas will be required. Travelling to the field areas may take up to 30-50% of the total work time, provided no travel restrictions exist.
