About the role

Builders Vision is seeking an experienced and highly analytical Senior Accountant who demonstrates strong critical thinking abilities and can take ownership of complex accounting projects. This role is ideal for someone who wants to deepen their technical accounting expertise and continue growing as an individual contributor within a high-performing accounting team.

Reporting to the Controller, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting across multiple entities, while also driving process improvements. The ideal candidate will be someone who doesn't just complete tasks but proactively identifies issues, develops solutions, and takes full ownership of their work from start to finish.

The Finance & Accounting function manages accounting and reporting, treasury, vendor maintenance, budgeting and cash forecasting, and capital allocation across all entities of our platform. This team works with individuals and teams across the company to support our mission.

What you'll do

● Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for assigned entities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery of financial statements and supporting documentation.

● Prepare complex journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses with minimal supervision, demonstrating deep understanding of accounting principles and their practical application.

● Take ownership of special accounting projects including system implementations, process improvement initiatives, and technical accounting research, driving these projects from conception through completion.

● Critically analyze financial data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement; proactively communicate findings and recommendations to management.

● Manage the preparation and review of investment accounting entries, capital calls, distributions, and related reporting for our investment vehicles and portfolio companies.

● Perform NAV analysis and support cash flow processes for PE, VC, and hedge fund investments.

● Coordinate with fund administrators, custodians, and investment managers to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate reporting.

● Support the implementation and documentation of accounting policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls while continuously identifying opportunities for enhancement.

● Collaborate with external auditors during year-end audits, taking ownership of assigned sections including preparation of PBC lists, responding to inquiries, and resolving issues independently.

● Partner cross-functionally with investment teams, operations, and other departments to understand business transactions and ensure proper accounting treatment.

● Assist with cash management, forecasting, and treasury functions as needed.

● Support the Controller and CFO with ad hoc analyses, reporting, and strategic projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred or actively pursuing

(candidate should be CPA-eligible).

• 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience, with experience operating at a senior

accountant level; investment accounting experience (asset management, private equity, family

office, or fund administration) is a plus.

• Demonstrated experience managing complex accounting projects independently from start to

finish, with examples of taking initiative beyond assigned responsibilities.

• Strong technical accounting knowledge with experience researching and applying GAAP;

familiarity with ASC 946 (Investment Companies) and partnership accounting is a plus.

• Experience with fund accounting, investment vehicles (limited partnerships, LLCs), capital call

and distribution accounting is a plus.

with Sage Intacct or similar accounting systems strongly preferred.

• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to think critically about complex issues

and develop practical, well-reasoned solutions.

• Strong project management abilities including planning, prioritization, and execution of multiple

concurrent initiatives.

• Excellent attention to detail with a track record of producing accurate, high-quality work under

tight deadlines.

• Superior communication skills (written and verbal) with ability to explain complex accounting

concepts to non-financial stakeholders.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision while knowing when to
