About The Role

The Urgent Care Medical Assistant (Hourly, full-time) plays a key role in supporting a high-volume, fast-paced clinic environment. In this role, you will work both front and back office, assisting providers with direct patient care and ensuring smooth clinic operations. You will perform injections, blood draws, and drug screens, support workplace health services, and manage patient flow from check-in to check-out. This position requires strong multitasking skills, excellent communication, and a commitment to delivering efficient, compassionate care in an urgent care setting.


What You'll Do

  • Perform clinical tasks including injections, blood draws (phlebotomy), and specimen collection following established protocols and safety standards
  • Conduct and document drug screens and other workplace health services as required by clinic protocols and employer partners
  • Support providers with patient care in the back office, including rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, updating medical histories, and preparing patients for exams and procedures
  • Handle front desk responsibilities such as greeting patients, verifying demographics and insurance, checking patients in and out, and scheduling follow-up appointments
  • Answer and triage incoming phone calls, relay messages accurately, and provide appropriate information or routing to clinical staff
  • Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies to ensure cleanliness, readiness, and compliance with infection control standards in a busy urgent care environment
  • Accurately document all patient interactions, procedures, and clinical information in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Assist with workplace health services, including occupational medicine visits, injury care support, and employer-requested screenings
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other team members to support efficient patient flow and high-quality care
  • Follow all clinic policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to patient privacy, safety, and quality of care


Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar clinical support role in an urgent care, primary care, or other busy outpatient clinic
  • Proficiency with injections, blood draws (phlebotomy), and specimen handling in accordance with safety and infection control guidelines
  • Experience performing or assisting with drug screens and workplace health-related services
  • Comfort working in both front and back office roles, including direct patient care and administrative responsibilities
  • Ability to manage a high volume of patients and multitask effectively in a busy clinic setting
  • Strong phone etiquette and communication skills for handling patient calls and coordinating care
  • Basic computer skills and experience using an electronic health record (EHR) or similar clinical software
  • Excellent customer service skills and a professional, compassionate demeanor with patients, families, and coworkers
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, specimen labeling, and administrative tasks
  • Ability to work scheduled hourly, full-time shifts, including possible evenings or weekends based on clinic needs
