The General Manager, Marketplace is a senior operating role with full P&L ownership of the auction business at Cars & Bids - including team leadership, growth strategy, and marketplace health. The GM, Marketplace will be the key driver of revenue, supply, and execution across our core business, and will report directly to the CEO. 


Success in this role comes from a combination of high intelligence, a strong “get things done” attitude, and the ability to identify and act on opportunities that move the business forward.


This is a dynamic, executive-level role that blends marketplace expertise, exceptional operating ability, and a passion for accelerating growth by delivering the best possible customer experience and outcomes.

  • Clear Ownership - Serve as the single point of accountability for the platform, including the customer experience, marketplace growth, trust and safety, and all other auction operations.




What You Bring

  • Proven Marketplace Leadership - 10+ years of operating experience, including executive leadership in a two-sided, technology-driven marketplace or high-growth start-up.
  • Growth Track Record - Demonstrated success launching, scaling, or transforming a marketplace vertical or operational team to drive measurable results.
  • Product and Systems Mindset - A strong operator who partners deeply with product and engineering, thinking analytically and strategically to improve customer experience, efficiency, and growth.
  • Data-Driven and Detail-Oriented - Able to move seamlessly between high-level strategy and hands-on execution, using analytics to spot opportunities and guide decisions.
  • Automotive Enthusiasm - A genuine passion for enthusiast cars with the taste and instinct to curate what excites our community.
  • Strategic Operator - Comfortable driving both strategy and execution - not just managing, but making things happen.
  • Executive Presence - A clear, confident communicator who can inspire teams, influence cross-functional partners, and represent the business externally.
  • Builder Over Maintainer - Scrappy, low ego, high horsepower, with a bias toward action and positive change over status quo.
