About the role

  • We are seeking an Automated Test Engineer to support and help ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of this mission-critical system. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, passionate about software quality, and experienced in developing robust automated test solutions. In this role, you'll collaborate with a cross-functional Agile team of software developers, systems engineers, DevOps engineers, and product owners to validate new functionality, enhance test automation, and support the continued modernization of dissemination tools.
  • This position is based in Annapolis Junction, MD, with up to two days of telework per week as project tasking allows.

What you'll do

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable automated UI and API test suites using Cypress.
  • Execute automated test suites, analyze results, troubleshoot failures, and document defects and testing metrics.
  • Partner with DevOps and software engineering teams to integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines (such as GitLab CI/CD).
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, reviews, and demos.
  • Collaborate with developers and systems engineers to understand requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage for new features and bug fixes.

Qualifications

  • U.S Citizenship and active TS/SCI with polygraph
  • Proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining automated test suites using Cypress (automation experience should be clearly reflected on your resume).
  • Proficiency with JavaScript or TypeScript.
  • Experience testing modern web applications, RESTful APIs, and microservices.
  • Strong understanding of software QA methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Experience working within Agile software development environments.
  • Familiarity with collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience using Git for version control.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/CD or similar).
  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and cloud-based architectures.
  • Basic understanding of Docker and containerized application testing.
  • Familiarity with government reporting and dissemination systems or related domain knowledge.

The pay range for this role is:

110,000 - 230,000 USD per year (Annapolis Junction, MD)
