As our flooring business continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced Commercial Flooring Project Manager who is excited to make a meaningful impact. In this role, you'll work on complex commercial flooring projects from award through completion while collaborating with a talented team of sales professionals, installers, vendors, and project partners. Your expertise will help deliver outstanding customer experiences, drive operational excellence, and strengthen Custer's reputation for quality and service.

This role partners with the sales team during the pre-order phase to ensure a seamless transition into project execution and oversees all post-order activities, including procurement, scheduling, budgeting, installation coordination, customer communication, and project closeout. The Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for customers, general contractors, vendors, installers, and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.


 The ideal candidate has a strong background in the commercial flooring industry, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining quality, budget, and schedule expectations. This role serves as the primary point of contact for customers, general contractors, vendors, installation teams, and internal sales staff to ensure successful project execution.


SPECIFIC DUTIES AND SKILLS:

  •  Manage commercial flooring projects from project award through final completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Partner with the sales team during the pre-order phase to ensure a seamless project handoff and accurate execution of quotes, work orders, and project documentation
  • Review project plans, specifications, contracts, bid documents, and BidPro quotes to confirm project scope, product requirements, and installation expectations.
  • Lead project kickoff and pre-installation meetings with internal teams, customers, general contractors, installers, and other stakeholders to establish project scope, schedule, and expectations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, general contractors, architects, suppliers, installers, and internal departments throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate material procurement, vendor communications, special pricing, product availability, shipping status, deliveries, and installation scheduling to ensure materials are available when needed.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the Installation Foreman to monitor project progress, ensure adherence to project scope, manage change orders, and prevent scope creep.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, purchase orders, change orders, progress billings, including monthly AIA billings, and support project financial tracking through closeout.
  • Work within RFMS to process sales orders, order products, maintain accurate project documentation, and ensure timely and accurate order management.
  • Collaborate with estimating, sales, warehouse, scheduling, subcontractors, accounting, and other internal teams to ensure successful project execution, issue resolution, and project closeout
  • Resolve project issues, scheduling conflicts, customer concerns, invoice discrepancies, claims, and inventory-related issues in a timely and professional manne
  • Assist with accounts receivable, collections, claims management, inventory reconciliation, and physical inventory counts as needed
  • Apply technical knowledge of commercial flooring products, moisture mitigation systems, adhesives, and installation methods to support proper product selection and successful project outcomes

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Commercial Flooring experience in installation preferred
  • Knowledge in the installation process of various flooring products; including carpet, luxury vinyl tile, ceramic tile, wood, laminate, etc.
  • Excellent time and project management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Professional conduct and appearance to maintain company image

  • Valid drivers’ license required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma required; college degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of Flooring or Flooring Installation experience
