Business Development Executive

This position has a full salary range of $68,500 - $108,000 per year with eligibility for commission. Starting salary is based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, geographic location and experience. The target hiring range for this role is $68,500 - $85,000.


Candidates for this role must live in a major metropolitan area. Preference for candidates living in CST or EST: New York, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Austin etc.

Summary:


The Business Development Executive will play a key role in driving revenue growth by identifying new business opportunities and closing sales in both the conventional and natural space. This role is responsible for generating leads, partnering with internal teams to qualify leads, and selling merchandising services to brands in the natural CPG industry using tailored pitches and case studies. Successful candidates will have prior business development and/or sales experience in the natural and conventional CPG industry, a proven track record of meeting sales targets, and a passion for helping CPG brands drive profitable growth.


This role will focus on regional and small to mid-sized national contracts.

Responsibilities:


Business Development Strategy & Execution

● Partner with Business Development leadership to develop and implement a sales strategy to drive revenue growth, focused on acquiring new clients and expanding existing accounts.

● Collaborate with the strategy team, merchandising leadership, and brokerage leadership to create tailored pitches and case studies that demonstrate the value of Dirty Hands’ services to potential clients.

● Lead sales presentations to showcase Dirty Hands’ merchandising and brokerage services using data, case studies, and internal experts.

● Work with Business Development leadership to negotiate and close contracts with potential clients, ensuring agreements support company goals and business development strategy.

● Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers at current and prospective clients as well as within the natural CPG industry.


Lead Generation & Prospecting

● Actively seek out new leads and prospects through various channels, including cold calls, email outreach, networking, frequent store-checks, and attending industry events.

● Utilize Dirty Hands internal tools, including GoSpotCheck, to highlight and display unique opportunities for brands

● Partner with the strategy team to qualify leads, ensuring prospective clients are viable long-term strategic partners and compliment Dirty Hands’ current brand portfolio.

● Represent Dirty Hands at trade shows and other networking events, building relationships with potential clients and identifying new business opportunities.

● Collaborate with Dirty Hands leadership to develop and implement lead generation campaigns aimed at increasing sales opportunities.

● Conduct market research to discover emerging opportunities, including new clients and potential areas for business growth in the CPG industry.


Sales Process & Reporting

● Manage the full sales cycle, from lead generation to closing deals, ensuring each opportunity is tracked and followed through effectively.

● Utilize CRM tools (HubSpot) to manage leads, report on sales activities, and track progress towards sales goals.

● Stay up to date with industry trends, retailer programs, competitor offerings, market conditions,

and Dirty Hands’ internal programs and services, to identify new opportunities and refine sales

approaches.


Requirements:

● 5+ years of experience in a business development and/or sales focused role in the natural CPG industry at a brand, broker, or merchandiser.

● An understanding of and a passion for the natural and conventional CPG industry.

● Proven track record of identifying and qualifying business opportunities, achieving sales targets, and driving revenue growth (building and closing a sales pipeline).

● Highly motivated, results-driven, and proactive in driving the sales process from start to finish.

● Strong professional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and persuade potential clients.

● An ability to build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and clients at all levels, including C-suite executives and other key decision makers.

● Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.

● An understanding of sales analytics, market research tools, and lead generation strategies.

● Proficient in Google Workspaces and/or Microsoft Office and experience using CRM systems to manage leads, track sales progress, and report on activities. Prior experience using HubSpot is a plus.

● Willingness to travel up to 12 weeks per year to attend trade shows, client meetings, and other in-person events. Weekend travel may be occasionally required.

● Able to work in a seated position for extended periods of time.
