Voice / VoIP Engineer

About the role

Insight Xcite is recruiting for distinct Voice / VoIP engineering requirements in Herndon, Virginia. Candidates must have hands-on voice engineering experience aligned to the applicable track.

Cisco Voice / Unified Communications — Senior and Expert
  • Design, deploy, secure, upgrade, and troubleshoot enterprise Cisco Unified Communications, including CUCM, Unity Connection, IM&P, and UCCX.
  • Support call routing, SIP trunking, SRST, CUBE, gateways, call centers, PKI/certificates, security accreditation, and new site deployments.
  • Required for both levels: Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, IT, engineering, or a related field; expertise in SIP, SRTP, MGCP, H.323, TCP/IP, MPLS, DNS, DHCP, and RTP; secure enterprise voice experience and strong technical communication.
  • Senior: at least 6 years of relevant Voice/UC engineering experience.
  • Expert: at least 11 years overall experience, including at least 8 years of progressive Voice/UC engineering experience, and demonstrated leadership of enterprise voice deployments and modernization.
VoIP / Network Engineering — Expert

A separate requirement emphasizes engineering and designing voice/video solutions: LAN/WAN design, advanced TCP/IP and QoS, SIP/RTP/H.323, enterprise VoIP platforms such as Cisco, Asterisk or 3CX, call-routing troubleshooting, SBC/TLS security, and cloud integration. Required experience includes configuring and troubleshooting switches, routers, firewalls, and VPN concentrators; technical documentation; and explaining designs to nontechnical audiences. Customer-specific experience and level requirements will be confirmed for this track.

Preferred Qualifications

Relevant Cisco Collaboration or other voice/network certifications, multivendor Cisco/Avaya integration, call-center engineering, secure voice devices, and government security accreditation experience.

Due to the nature of our work, Insight Xcite does not sponsor or process security clearances at this time.

Applicants must currently possess an active TS/SCI with Full-Scope Polygraph (FSP) to be considered for employment.

Work Location Requirement

All Insight Xcite positions are onsite. We do not offer remote or hybrid opportunities.

Applicants must be willing and able to work in person at the designated customer location.

The pay range for this role is:

175,000 - 220,000 USD per year (Government Client Site – Herndon VA)
