As a Bilingual Center Support, you play a critical role in creating a welcoming, healthy, and safe environment for children, families, and staff. You will manage kitchen, classroom support, and cleaning-related tasks while embodying our core values of listen, learn, and lead, to support the overall success of our preschool.
Managing the Kitchen
You will lead the effort to provide healthy snacks and meals, ensuring that food is prepared and served in line with allergen information and hygiene standards. Through active listening to the needs of children, families, and our team, you will support in creating a positive dining experience. Additionally, you will oversee the cleanliness of the kitchen, making sure that washing/sterilizing is done where needed, inventory is maintained, and trash disposal is done efficiently.
Ensuring Cleanliness of the Environment
You will take the lead in maintaining a clean, inviting atmosphere throughout the school. Your attention to detail will ensure that we are always ready to welcome families. You will support the team in handling laundry, managing clutter, cleaning windows and bathrooms, refilling restroom supplies as needed, and ensuring all trash is emptied regularly.
What will you do?
You will have accountability for the following:
● Maintenance and cleanliness of the kitchen: Take ownership of the kitchen and its upkeep, ensuring it remains a clean and hygienic space for children and staff meals. Support inventory management of food items and kitchen supplies.
● Serving snacks and meals: Starting with breakfast, ensure that healthy snacks and meals are provided and delivered to classrooms on time, including transporting lunches to the infant center. External caterers will provide main meals, but you will serve and complement them with healthy snacks.
● Inventory: Monitor and maintain inventory of kitchen, classroom, and restroom supplies to ensure materials are always stocked and available.
● Cleaning and sanitation: Maintain a clean environment by emptying trash cans, breaking down and disposing of boxes properly, cleaning bathrooms, refilling restroom supplies, cleaning windows, and ensuring surfaces are sanitized.
● Supporting classroom needs: Provide restroom breaks for children, assist with basic classroom management, understand and follow children’s allergy information, and support teachers as needed.
● Hosting meal times: Meal times are a learning opportunity. You will actively participate by educating children about the food they are eating and helping them develop healthy habits.
● Team Player: Build strong relationships with children, families, and the team by listening to their needs and offering support where possible. Be proactive in identifying challenges and take the lead in finding solutions. Help in any area as needed, supporting both staff and children.
● Welcoming spaces: Ensure that our front-of-house is always welcoming, clean, and clutter-free. Support your admin team as requested and help create a space that feels inviting and comforting to families.
● Any other duties as reasonably requested by school management.
