POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking an enthusiastic IT Helpdesk Intern to join our team at Gene By Gene. As an IT Helpdesk Intern, you will be an integral part in supporting our internal users by providing first-level technical assistance, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and ensuring the smooth operation of our computer systems. A passion for technology and a strong customer service orientation will provide a strong basis for success.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Acts as the first point of contact for technical support requests from users via tickets, email, and phone.
  • Assists with the setup, configuration, and maintenance of desktop and laptop computers.
  • Installs, modifies, and repairs computer hardware and software.
  • Troubleshoots basic network connectivity, printer, and peripheral issues.
  • Creates and manages user accounts and access permissions.
  • Escalates complex technical issues to senior IT staff.
  • Protects operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Updates job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools and technology.
  • Improves operations by recommending changes in policies and procedures.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of Windows and/or macOS operating systems preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

OTHER COMPETENCIES AND TECHNOLOGIES FAMILIARITY

  • Experience with helpdesk ticketing software (Jira, Helpdesk, Zoho).
  • Familiarity with Active Directory and user account management.
  • Customer service experience.
  • A+ or similar IT certifications are a plus.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace
  • Windows Powershell or Linux Shell Scripting
