POSITION OVERVIEW

  • Performs molecular genetic assays and general laboratory maintenance for the Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) team.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carries out complex laboratory procedures such as library preparations, amplification, enrichment, library dilutions, and loading of sequencers for the NGS team
  • Operates and maintains sophisticated laboratory equipment, including Beckman, Tecan, Echo, and Mantis automated liquid handlers; Agilent Tapestation; and Next Generation Sequencing Instrumentation.
  • Assists with special projects for validation and implementation of new NGS products
  • Maintains records of laboratory work and sample tracking
  • Follows all laboratory protocols and policies, including quality control and quality system activities, and documents appropriately all records, deviations, and corrective actions as required
  • Monitors and maintains supply inventories and reagent stocks
  • Proactively identifies and assists with troubleshooting issues with assays, equipment, or procedures on the pipeline
  • Contributes to organization and cleanliness of the team and lab workspaces

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • 4- year Bachelor degree or higher in a Biological Science or related field; or equivalent education and experience meeting requirements of regulatory agencies
  • Computer literacy of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally verbally and in writing
  • 3+ years of general laboratory experience with molecular biology techniques (e.g. PCR, qPCR, NGS, microarrays arrays, DNA extractions, capillary electrophoresis, etc.)
  • Previous experience with Next Generation Sequencing platforms and procedures
