About the role


Role type: Permanent Full time, 40 hours per week Monday to Friday.

Location: Head Office, Enfield, however is required to visit client site as and when required.


We are always on the look out for Contract Managers who are as passionate about fire protection as we are. As a Contracts Manager you would be overseeing and managing contracts for Passive Fire Protection, focusing on objectives such as negotiating favourable terms, ensuring legal compliance, managing costs, fostering positive relationships, and resolving project issues.


The role includes coordinating with stakeholders, upholding quality standards, and continually improving contract management processes, all with the overarching goal of ensuring successful and compliant completion of electrical projects within established criteria.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring compliance with Passive Fire, FRA, and organisational standards.
  • Plan, organise, and oversee the entire lifecycle of passive fire protection projects on a proactive and reactive basis.
  • Responsible for the management of department admin deadlines
  • Implement training and development initiatives for engineering and administrative teams.
  • Develop project timelines, pricings, resource plans and budgets.
  • Review and negotiate passive fire protection contracts, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance
  • Effectively manage contract changes, claims, and dispute resolution.
  • Develop and monitor project budgets, ensuring cost control and adherence to financial objectives.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with safety codes, regulations, and industry standards in passive projects.
  • Implement quality assurance measures to meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Lead and manage a team of passive fire protection engineers and apprentices, fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing concerns and providing regular project updates.
  • Build and maintain positive client relationships as well as produce and develop client leads.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, implementing proactive measures to prevent delays or cost overruns
  • Prepare and present results, reports, projections and recommendations to necessary internal and external stakeholders
  • Responsible for contributing to the strategic acquisition of skilled and qualified professionals for the department.
  • Conduct regular toolbox talks, provide training on safety equipment usage, and cultivate a continuous improvement culture in health and safety awareness and compliance for engineers and apprentices.


What we're looking for


Essential:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • At least 8 years experience in FRA Projects management, (preferably with a focus on social housing sector).
  • In-depth knowledge of passive fire protection systems, regulations, codes, industry standards, health and safety compliance.
  • Proven track record in managing projects and setting up RAMS.
  • Strong financial acumen to support budget control and KPI delivery.
  • Demonstrable experience running and training teams
  • Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills to engage clients, stakeholders, residents, and internal teams.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality standards
  • Holds relevant industry qualifications such as NEBOSH General Certificate, Level 3 Fire Safety qualification and so on.
  • Up to date ECS/CSCS

Desirable:

  • Proficiency in data management and workflow systems for project tracking and reporting.
  • Professional certification in project management
  • Further fire safety qualifications
  • Familiarity with ISO standards related to fire safety and compliance.
