About The Role
As the VP of People, you will be a vital member of our leadership team, responsible for shaping and executing a people strategy that aligns with our business objectives by partnering closely with key stakeholders. In this role, you will act as a true player-coach to build and lead the People function, prioritizing efficient employee onboarding, while simultaneously driving initiatives that enhance employee engagement, streamline People operations, and cultivate a thriving company culture. You will also ensure that our People programs and processes effectively support the company's ongoing growth.
Responsibilities
Strategic People Leadership:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive people strategy to support the company’s growth and scaling efforts.
- Collaborate closely with the leadership team to align People initiatives with overall business goals.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and Chief of Staff on all HR-related matters.
- Lead headcount planning and budgeting to align with the company's growth projections.
- Oversee People onboarding processes, ensuring that all new employees have a structured 60-day plan and establish a check-in cadence to keep a pulse on employee growth and satisfaction.
- Manage People offboarding processes, including conducting exit interviews and recording feedback for continuous improvement.
Performance Management:
- Implement and manage performance review processes that are tied to job descriptions, while identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop career progression frameworks that support employee growth, with a focus on internal promotions and proactive search strategies for key roles.
- Able to hold employees accountable via methods such as PIPs, OKRs to promotion, core competency rubric sourcing, etc. to accomplish our organizational goal to hire, retain, and then promote internally wherever possible.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Develop and maintain competitive pay bands using benchmarking data, and collaborate with the VP of Sales on commission structures.
- Establish clear guidelines for refresh grants and communicate benefits packages effectively to employees.
- Ensure that our benefits offerings are competitive, well-communicated, and aligned with employee needs.
Company Health & Employee Engagement:
- Lead the annual anonymous employee survey, transforming feedback into actionable initiatives in partnership with the Founders, while continuously monitoring employee engagement, especially among top performers.
- Support monthly all-hands meetings with a dedicated People section, providing updates on new People processes and initiatives.
- Strengthen our employee brand by actively managing platforms like Glassdoor, ensuring a positive and consistent company reputation.
Qualifications
- Proven track record (8+ years) in People leadership roles, ideally within high-growth startups or tech companies.
- Experience working in a Series A-C startup environment.
- Expertise in scaling People functions within rapidly growing organizations.
- Comprehensive understanding of key People disciplines, including talent acquisition, performance management, employee engagement, and compliance.
- Designing a thorough onboarding process to facilitate and support new FTEs and manages through 30, 60, and 90 days.
- Source and screen candidates up and down verticals and across functions.
- Use of data-driven tracking and benchmarking to measure success of placements.
- Strong background in implementing performance management systems and practices.
- Experience collaborating with accounting, finance, and operations on HRIS and payroll compliance matters.
