About the role

We are seeking a Senior Commercial and Strategy Analyst to join our Strategy and Commercial team based in Richmond.

This is a high-impact analytical role providing commercial and financial insights to support strategic decisions across the business. You’ll work across strategy, capital allocation, investment assessment, valuations, M&A analysis, market intelligence and competitor analysis, partnering with senior leaders across Select Harvests.

You’ll have the opportunity to work on complex and commercially significant projects, build sophisticated financial models and translate financial, operational and market information into clear recommendations for senior management and the Board.

What you'll do

  • Support business and enterprise strategy through financial analysis, scenario modelling and fact-based recommendations
  • Assess strategic options, growth opportunities, partnerships and other major business initiatives
  • Develop financial models and business cases for capital expenditure, growth projects and significant investments
  • Assess investments using cash flow, ROI, payback, NPV, IRR and sensitivity analysis
  • Develop valuation models across orchards, water, processing assets, businesses and strategic opportunities
  • Support acquisition, divestment, leasing, partnership and other transaction assessments
  • Undertake financial due diligence and coordinate specialist inputs where required
  • Analyse almond and broader agricultural markets, including supply, demand, pricing, production, yields, export flows and competitor trends
  • Develop market outlooks and insights to support strategy, planning and investment decisions
  • Build and maintain robust financial and analytical models
  • Prepare clear analysis, briefing papers and presentations for senior management and the Board
  • Partner across the business to challenge assumptions and improve the quality of commercial decision-making

What we're looking for

  • A tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Commerce, Business, Engineering, Agricultural Economics or another relevant quantitative discipline
  • Ideally 5+ years' experience in commercial analysis, corporate finance, transaction advisory, investment analysis, strategy consulting, valuations, business planning or a comparable role
  • Advanced financial modelling capability, including integrated cash flow, discounted cash flow, investment returns, scenario and sensitivity analysis
  • Experience assessing capital projects, business cases, strategic opportunities or transactions
  • Strong ability to analyse complex financial, operational and market data
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Strong commercial judgement and the ability to identify the key assumptions and value drivers behind a decision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex analysis clearly to senior and non-technical stakeholders
  • The ability to work independently, structure ambiguous problems and manage competing priorities
  • Experience in agribusiness, asset management, food manufacturing, infrastructure, natural assets, water, property or other capital-intensive sectors would be advantageous
  • A CA, CPA, CFA or equivalent qualification, or progress towards one, would also be highly regarded.
