The Role:

With a growing pipeline of exciting projects on the horizon, Skyports Drone Services is expanding!

We are now looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Flight Operations Manager to join our New York based team.  This is a pivotal role—one that will not only be central to the successful execution of upcoming operations, but also instrumental in driving the continued growth of our business across the U.S.

You will be at the forefront of implementing new robust processes, developing a high-performing team and ensuring safe and efficient drone operations.

Reporting to the Head of Flight Operations, you will be instrumental in building the foundation of our US-based flight operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operational Leadership: Lead and manage the flight operations team, including remote pilots and ground support personnel, ensuring cohesive and efficient team performance.
• Process Development: Establish and implement standardised operational procedures and best practices, aligned with regulatory requirements and Skyports’ standards.
• Flight Planning and Execution: Oversee flight planning, mission execution, and post-flight analysis to ensure high-quality service delivery and data accuracy.
• Safety and Compliance: Foster a strong safety culture, enforcing compliance with all aviation regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
• Team Development: Provide mentorship and professional growth opportunities for team members, conducting regular performance evaluations and supporting their development.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the Head of Flight Operations and other stakeholders to align operational strategies and ensure smooth execution of projects.
• Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to minimize operational risks and enhance mission success.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry advancements and emerging technologies, incorporating innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency.

About You:

• You will have proven experience in drone operations, with hands-on experience in field operations and project management.
• With previous experience in a leadership role, you may have played a role such as team leader, supervisor, or junior manager within the drone or aviation industry.
• You come with strong knowledge of UAS flight operations, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
• You will have excellent leadership and communication skills, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
• You have the ability to develop and implement operational procedures and maintain a high standard of documentation.
• If you have a valid Remote Pilot Certificate (e.g., Part 107), that’s a big plus!
• You are Willing to be based in Michigan and travel for project requirements.
