About the role

The Head of People will play a critical role in scaling our team and culture. This role is ideal for an experienced HR professional who shares passion for our mission and brings deep expertise in talent management and HR operations. This is an early-stage building opportunity so we need someone with the poise and confidence to define, write and execute HR practices, coach our leaders, and support our team members while simultaneously scaling the function side by side with the company growth.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Building HR Infrastructure: define HR processes and systems while overseeing maintenance of people operations, including onboarding, payroll, employee records, and HRIS implementation. We work with a PEO partner and you will have one HR Ops admin direct report. 
  • Management Coaching: You will work closely with managers across the organization in both US and Brazil to develop their skills in hiring, performance management, team leadership, conflict resolution, and employee engagement.
  • Organizational Development: Partner with executive leadership and advisors to execute and iterate on organizational practices that support strategic business goals. Provide guidance on workforce planning, succession planning, and employee communications to ensure we have alignment between people and business objectives.
  • Scaling Talent Acquisition: Lead and manage the expansion of our team as we scale operations in the US and Brazil. Own and activate recruitment strategies to attract top talent across multiple functions and geographies. 
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Oversee HR-related compliance, ensuring that our rapidly growing team adheres to local, state, and international employment laws. Implement risk management strategies to address the complexities of scaling a global workforce.
  • Compensation & Benefits Strategy: Design and manage compensation strategies that attract and retain top talent in a competitive market. Ensure that our benefits and compensation packages scale appropriately with the company’s growth and are competitive within the industry and appropriate for each location where we operate.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree or HR certification is a plus).
  • 10+ years of HR management experience, with experience scaling teams in a high-growth environment, particularly Series A or in similar fast-paced scenarios.
  • Deep knowledge of employment laws, particularly in the context of California, Brazil. Speaking both Portuguese and English is a must!
  • Able to influence and build relationships across all levels of the organization. Ability to deliver tough feedback and coach leaders at all levels.
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to execute tactically in a fast-paced, evolving environment independently. 
  • Clear and concise communication style.
  • World-class empathy and a people-centric mindset.
