Full-Stack Engineer — AI Clinical Research Platform
About the Role
Tilda Research is looking for a Full-Stack Engineer to help build the next generation of AI-powered clinical research software.
This is a true 50% frontend / 50% backend engineering role for someone who enjoys owning features end-to-end—from building intuitive user experiences to developing the APIs, services, data models, and AI integrations behind them.
You’ll work closely with Product, Design, Clinical Operations, and Engineering to build scalable software and AI-powered workflows that improve how clinical trials are managed.
We’re looking for someone who can move comfortably across the stack, thrives in a fast-moving environment, and is excited about applying AI to real-world problems.
What You'll Do
- Build and ship production features across the frontend and backend, with approximately a 50/50 split.
- Develop modern, intuitive web experiences using React or similar frontend technologies.
- Design and build backend services, APIs, data models, integrations, and application logic using Python, Node.js/TypeScript, or similar technologies.
- Own features end-to-end—from technical design and development through testing, deployment, and production support.
- Integrate LLMs and AI capabilities into product workflows, including document processing, classification, data extraction, search, summarization, and workflow automation.
- Build human-in-the-loop AI experiences that allow users to review, approve, correct, and interact with AI-generated work.
- Partner closely with Product, Design, and clinical domain experts to turn complex clinical workflows into simple, scalable software.
- Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, testing, debugging, and continuous improvement of our engineering practices.
What We're Looking For
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong hands-on full-stack development experience with a demonstrated ability to work approximately 50% frontend / 50% backend.
- Strong experience with a modern frontend framework such as React.
- Backend development experience using Python, Node.js/TypeScript, or similar technologies.
- Experience designing and consuming REST APIs.
- Strong understanding of relational databases and SQL.
- Experience building and supporting production SaaS applications.
- Experience with cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Strong understanding of modern software-development practices, testing, debugging, and code quality.
- Ability to independently own features across the software-development lifecycle.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
AI Experience
We are looking for engineers who are actively embracing AI and want to build it into real production software.
Experience with one or more of the following is highly valued:
- LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Gemini
- AI agents or agentic workflows
- Prompt engineering and structured outputs
- AI-powered document processing or data extraction
- Retrieval, search, and summarization
- Human-in-the-loop AI workflows
- AI evaluation, monitoring, and observability
Experience shipping AI-powered features into production is strongly preferred.
We also value engineers who actively use modern AI development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, ChatGPT, or similar tools to improve development speed and quality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a startup or high-growth SaaS environment.
- Experience with healthcare, clinical research, life sciences, or another regulated industry.
- Experience building workflow-heavy enterprise applications.
- Experience with third-party APIs and system integrations.
- Experience with document-management or document-processing systems.
- Familiarity with event-driven or asynchronous architectures.
- Experience with production monitoring and observability.
What Makes You a Strong Fit
You’ll likely thrive at Tilda if you:
- Are a true full-stack engineer who enjoys both frontend and backend development.
- Like owning features from the database and API all the way through the user experience.
- Enjoy solving complex workflow problems.
- Move quickly while maintaining strong engineering standards.
- Are comfortable working in an environment where requirements evolve.
- Actively use AI tools and are excited about building AI into production products.
- Want your work to have a measurable impact on clinical research.
About Tilda Research, Inc.
About Tilda
Tilda Research is reimagining how clinical trials are run by bringing AI-native tools and AI teammates into clinical research operations. Our technology works alongside sponsor, CRO, and research teams to simplify study management, improve data quality, support real-time oversight, and help accelerate trial timelines.
We are building the future of clinical trial execution: one where research teams can spend less time on administrative bottlenecks and more time focused on patients, sites, and the work that moves new treatments forward. Tilda’s mission is rooted in the belief that clinical research should be faster, more efficient, more scalable, and more accessible — without losing the human judgment and care that patients and research teams deserve.
At Tilda, we are a team of builders, operators, researchers, and problem-solvers working at the intersection of healthcare, technology, and AI. We move quickly, think deeply, and care about building products and systems that create meaningful impact in the clinical research industry.
