The Student Minister will lead and oversee the BattleCreek Church Student ministry for 6th through 12th grade at the designated campus. The Student Minister will provide oversight, instruction, and leadership to help students, parents, dream teamers to know God, find freedom, discover their purpose, and make a global difference.  

The Student Minister is accountable for the success and execution of the student ministry strategies and programs on the campus – from goals, to plans, to managing the implementation of systems created to maintain high quality, safe, creative and life-changing ministry for students and their families. 

What you'll do

Every day looks different, but here’s a snapshot of what you’ll be up to: 

  • Develop and monitor annual goals, vision, ministry plans, and budgets that pertain to campus student ministry  
  • Recruit, train, develop, and deploy Student Ministry Dream Teamers  
  • Establish campus specific service, discipleship, and gospel-centered opportunities for students to build relationships with one-another, Dream Teamers, parents, and the Lord  
  • Work with students and campus team in coordinating weekly programming, events, service opportunities and other campus specific opportunities  
  • Work with BattleCreek Student Director in coordinating Student Ministry events for all campuses to be involved in such as summer camps, TUL Weekend, Dodgeball, Harvest Sundays, etc.  
  • Connect with 2-3 local schools weekly to effectively create outreach ministry and connections for students  
  • Provide counsel and guidance parents of students by providing parents/families with resources to aid in the discipleship of their student  
  • Need to have the ability to study and teach weekly in student ministry programming  
  • Maintain open and frequent communication with supervisor, staff, and team  
  • Assist in any special projects assigned by Director of NextGen or Campus Pastor to help all people of all ages all the time advance in their journey with Christ    

Qualifications

The must-haves for this role: 

Education & Experience: We are looking for someone with Bachelor’s Degree (but it is not required) and 2 to 3 years of experience in ministry and working with students 6th to 12th grade.  Having ministry experience in a multi-site environment is an added plus! 


 Skills & Strengths: We are looking for someone who: 

  • Align with the vision and mission of BattleCreek Church.  
  • Organized, detail-oriented and a self-starter.   
  • Proficient in communicating and relating to others, i.e., students, parents, etc.  
  • Creative and innovative ideation on ways to share the gospel to students. 
  • Ability to communicate Scripture in a way that is clear, engaging, and age-appropriate  
  • Ability to engage across different personalities, maturity levels, and backgrounds 
  • Strong skills in organization and project management 
  • Strong stage presence and ability to speak in front of a large audience

The Essentials 

Depending on the role, you might find yourself in an office, on stage, out in the community, or working behind the scenes. Evening and weekend hours may be required—it’s all part of ministry life! 

This role is primarily office-based but may involve some physical activity, including standing, lifting (up to 20 pounds), kneeling, setting up equipment, or prepping for events—sometimes even late at night. Don’t worry; we’ll ensure you know what to expect!
