About the role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Staff Accountant to be a core contributor to our daily accounting operations and month-end close cycle. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for executing key accounting functions, maintaining financial records, and identifying opportunities for process improvements. This is a hands-on role requiring proficiency with multiple systems and a high degree of precision.
What you'll do
- Month-End Close: Execute month-end close procedures, including preparing and posting journal entries (accruals, amortization, recurring revenue, adjusting entries, and more), and ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Reconciliations & Analysis: Perform and review detailed reconciliations of complex balance sheet accounts (e.g., bank reconciliations, accrued expenses, prepaid assets, deferred revenue), investigating and resolving any variances.
- Revenue Support: Assist the Controller with the application of the company's revenue recognition policy, supporting analysis, and preparing related schedules.
- Operational Accounting: Manage and troubleshoot issues within the purchase-to-pay (P2P) cycle and employee expense management, utilizing systems like Ramp or Concur.
- Sales Taxes: Ensure compliance with various bodies on sales tax/GST collections, exemptions, payments, and timely filings
- System Utilization: Operate proficiently across various financial systems including Netsuite, SAP, Rippling, Concur, and Ramp to execute daily tasks and extract data.
- FP&A/Reporting Assistance: Support the finance team by compiling data and reports needed for the forecasting/budgeting process and generating quote-to-cash reporting metrics.
- Audit & Compliance: Prepare audit-ready documentation and support internal control testing.
- Process Improvement: Identify and recommend improvements to existing accounting processes for efficiency, accuracy, and scalability, with a strong attention to detail.
Strong Candidates Will Exhibit the Following Key Traits
- 2+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance.
- Big 4 Accounting Experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Solid understanding of US GAAP and core accounting principles.
- Hands-on experience with a major ERP system, preferably Netsuite or Quickbooks.
- Experience with a range of finance tools such as Rippling, Concur, or Ramp is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and analysis.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

The pay range for this role is:
75,000 - 90,000 USD per year (San Jose, CA)
