About the role
This Cybersecurity Engineer will design and implement cybersecurity measures to protect mission critical DoD systems. The individual selected for this position will participate directly with software development processes to ensure the development of secure software and compliance with DoD standards.
What you'll do
Key responsibilities for the Cybersecurity Engineer include:
- Design, implement, test, and evaluate secure interfaces between information systems, physical systems, and/or embedded technologies
- Develop risk mitigation strategies and cybersecurity countermeasures to address cost, performance, and security risks and to resolve vulnerabilities and recommend security changes to system or system components as needed
- Perform cybersecurity scans, analyze results and harden systems
- Develop cybersecurity designs to meet specific operational needs and environmental factors (e.g., access controls, automated applications, networked operations, high integrity and availability requirements, multilevel security/processing of multiple classification levels, and processing Sensitive Compartmented Information)
- Generate documentation required to achieve approval to operate systems
- Interface with the customer, leveraging strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail
Required Qualifications
- Must hold DoD Secret Clearance, at minimum
- Willingness to work fully onsite
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Physical Sciences, Computer Science or related field (Relevant experience will be considered in lieu of education)
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in CyberSecurity Engineering
- Experience with cyber tools, including ACAS and HBSS
- Strong understanding of Cybersecurity frameworks and standards
- Knowledge of encryption, authentication, and access control mechanisms
- Experience with vulnerability assessments
- Familiarity with network security, firewalls, and cloud security solutions
- Experience with incident response and management
- Ability to communicate technical information via oral presentation and written format
Preferred/Bonus Qualifications
- Possess CompTIA Security+ and CISSP or similar certifications
- Cybersecurity engineering experience with embedded systems development for DoD
- Understanding of networking fundamentals, programming languages, and operating systems
- Familiar with Risk Management Framework (RMF)
- Understanding of ethical hacking and penetration
- Experience working within an agile workflow
- Experience with Jira and Confluence
- Experience with Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR)

Expected Salary Range
Depending on experience and skillset, most candidates will earn between $120,000 and $160,000 per year.
