Position Description:

FlexGen is seeking a Service Solutions Intern to join our team as part of our Early Careers Program. This internship is designed for a motivated and detail-oriented individual interested in process development, systems optimization, and operational excellence within the energy storage industry. The Service Solutions Intern will assist in evaluating existing workflows, identifying improvement opportunities, and supporting the development of standardized tools, processes, and documentation that enable consistent, high-quality service delivery across FlexGen projects.


This internship offers a unique blend of operational analysis, cross-functional collaboration, and exposure to technical and business processes across the full lifecycle of FlexGen’s energy storage systems. The intern will work closely with engineering, operations, and asset management teams to refine standards, document best practices, and contribute to the systems that support long-term project success.

Major Job Responsibilities:

Process Development & Documentation

·         Assist in reviewing and mapping existing service workflows.

·         Help document best practices, procedures, and standardized processes.

·         Support development of digital tools, templates, and process guides for the Lifecycle team.

Systems Optimization

·         Analyze opportunities to improve operational efficiency and scalability.

·         Support implementation of new systems or enhancements to existing tools.

·         Help evaluate and refine documentation management and workflow platforms.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

·         Work closely with Engineering, Operations, and Asset Management teams to gather inputs and validate processes.

·         Participate in working sessions, take notes, track action items, and support follow-through.

·         Assist with coordinating updates across teams to ensure alignment on service standards.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

·         Help prepare process summaries, data insights, and improvement recommendations.

·         Support internal reporting on workflow performance and system usage.

·         Contribute to ongoing initiatives that strengthen the Lifecycle organization’s service delivery framework

 

 

Position Requirements:

Required

·         Minimum standing: Junior or Senior undergraduate student.

·         Pursuing a degree in Business Administration (operations-focused), Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related technical field.

·         Strong organizational and analytical skills.

·         Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) or equivalent tools.

·         Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.

·         Local to Durham, NC, with the ability to work a hybrid schedule.

Preferred

·         Interest in renewable energy, energy storage, or operational process improvement.

·         Experience with workflow design, systems documentation, or process mapping.

·         Familiarity with project management or documentation management tools.
