Radon Tech Manager

At SWAT Environmental, we install “Radon Mitigation Systems” protect homes and businesses across the nation from the harmful effects of Radon, which is a naturally occurring, radioactive gas that escapes when uranium in the soil decays and can become concentrated in a home, seeping through cracks and openings in the foundation (basements). The EPA recommends that structures testing above 4 pCi/L (picocuries per liter) have a Radon Mitigation System installed.


The Technician Manager at SWAT Environmental is responsible for managing all aspects of the technician workforce – including hiring, training and development, and performance management. The individual in this role is also responsible for driving business results within a territory. SWAT is looking for individuals with a great attitude and a desire to be part of a growing company with a winning culture. The position requires the ability to lead a manage a team and hold them accountable for adhering to company standards. This position requires strong leadership, problem-solving, and time management skills.

Essential Functions:

  • Train, onboard, and supervise technicians. 
  • Review technician work for quality, safety, and cleanliness. 
  • Review technician schedules to jobs can be efficiently completed with the requisite tools, equipment, and travel distance.  
  • Review technician job completion and ensure jobs are closed out correctly. 
  • Ensure technicians meet/exceed all quality, safety, and productivity standards. 
  • Provide direction and guidance to technicians to ensure job completions. 
  • Provide regular, constructive performance feedback to technicians and complete weekly technician reviews. 
  • Attend site assessments. 
  • Ensure compliance with Indoor Environments Association (formerly AARST) Standards. 
  • Maintain and monitor territory fleet. 
  • Maintain safe office environment. 
  • Oversee material ordering and inventory platform (Sortly) utilization. 
  • Meet/exceed territory revenue, profitability, and retention goals


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • 1+ years’ experience managing a team of skilled trades employees. 
  • Hands on experience installing radon mitigation systems is a plus. 
  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to motivate and coach technicians to develop and retain a high-performance team. 
  • Ability to manage time effectively. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills. 
  • Previous P&L responsibility is a plus. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving history. 
  • Willingness to travel throughout the territory and other occasional travel 
  • Must become NRPP certified in Measurement and Mitigation within first 12 months in position
