Co-packer Market Manager

SUMMARY OF POSITION

  • The Co-packer Market Manager will be tasked with helping ePac grow in the co-man / Co-packer (Contract Packager) space. The primary goal of this position is to better connect epac into this space, in both Rollstock and premade pouches, and to grow our sales volume in the co-packer market.  The position will be ensuring ePac’s offerings meet the needs of the co-packer space in pursuit of this growth.  
  • The Candidate must have strong existing connections with co-packers across North America to provide direct access for ePac teams to engage in opportunities with the goal of increasing sales in this segment. The position requires  extensive knowledge of Co-packer and customer filling equipment and materials, and being able to help troubleshoot issues, identify root causes and implement solutions for raw materials and finished products. The Co-packer Market Manager will work closely with the ePac team to serve as support to ePac Customer’s and Co-packers needs.
  • The Copacker Market Director will work closely with the Tech Ops Manager and the Product Innovation and Sustainability Director, Technical team and Plants to serve as support to ePac Customer’s, Co-packers, as well as added level of support to ePac’s operation team. The primary goal of this position is to better connect epac into the co-packer space, in both Rollstock and premade pouches, and to grow our sales volume in the co-packer market.  Also ensuring ePac’s offerings meet the needs of the co-packer space in pursuit of this growth.  
  • The position will educate ePac team members on the Copacker FFS equipment, connect team members with FFS equipment suppliers and co-packers to build a foundation for ongoing connectivity to the space. 
  •  A secondary goal is providing additional support to the operation teams to ensure that all technical systems, infrastructure and processes are functioning efficiently and effectively to support the company’s operations and goals as well as assisting the Ops teams to close gaps on ePac operating standards at each site. The Focus on Equipment and Process Improvements will also be needed to help product development and commercialization meet Operations KPI
  • The position requires  extensive knowledge of Co-packer and customer filling  equipment, ePac equipment, internal processes.
  • Help troubleshoot issues, identify root causes and implement solutions for raw materials or finished products.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Lead efforts to provide valuable products and services to the Co-packer market and gain sales in this space.
  • Provide technical support for ePac Customers to ensure ePac packaging materials are processing to meet customer needs
  • Provide technical support for ePac plants to ensure our equipment and processes are aligned to process ePac materials in line with plant KPI goals
  • Provides leadership in the research, installation, and commercialization of packaging equipment and processes.
  • Provide Leadership and actively optimize ePac’s existing product lines to ensure ePac is delivering state of the art, quality offerings to the market.
  • Support technical service requirements such as structure testing and analysis, customer complaints, assist in material qualification trials internally and externally.  
  • Creates packaging related SOPs, work instructions and packaging specifications.
  • Maintains competency in packaging materials and new equipment offerings by attending technical and university meetings to identify new opportunities with respect to product/process.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Engineering and Technology — Extensive  knowledge  of engineering science and technology and application in the FFS area. .  This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Production and Processing — Strong  knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Troubleshooting — Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
  • Systems Analysis — Determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
  • Communicates effectively with employees through both oral and written means.
  • Builds rapport and collaborative relationships across cross-functional teams.


EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Packaging Engineering or related field such as Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Material Science or equivalent experience. 
  • Min 10 years direct copacker related and FFS equipment related experience 
  • Packaging innovation/engineering experience in flexible packaging, CPG, or food/beverage industry.
  • Proficient in the use of Google Suites and related software.
  • MS Dynamics experience is a plus.
  • Experience in a variety of packaging materials and applications - flexible films, paperboard cartons, corrugate, labels, adhesives, etc. would be ideal.
  • Knowledge of ISTA, TAPPI, and ASTM packaging test methods.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Most of the time in a professional office setting with some regular time on the production floor.  
  • Travel required as needed 
  • Will usually work from a single location, but will spend time visiting customers or traveling to other ePac sites within the organization.
